long is life

“long is life” she said with glee
forever she will be with me
two lives mended once and for all
one heart, one love, one life we lead

my fears compiled as I begged my plea
fearing most that she would flee
her lips parted and best of all
her love for me she did decree

hand-in-hand together we,
made our way beneath that tree
where letters laid engraved for years
of young hearts entangled, flighting, free

the futures plan we cannot see
for time goes on internally
through sweat and blood and hidden tears
there is no I, tis only we
