Looking at getting a car. IRL prices don't match with book values. Can I get some opinions?

I'm looking at a 1995 Mercedes E300 Diesel. It's got 142,000 Miles looks to be damn near pristine. Asking for 5,800. It's a better price that most I'm seeing, but the listed values on KBB and NADA are in the 3000 range. What do you guys think?

Check the prices asked for similar cars in your area. Make an offer, it is up to the seller to accept it if they want. You can't force them to charge the guide book values.

It seems to me the problem with older used luxury cars is that there is sometimes a limited market. What that means is they are hard to sell at high prices and hard to buy at low prices.
