May I please be unbanned?

I recently made a post challenging a mod's decision to ban one of the users here.

I believe that this ban was largely unjustified so I looked through some of the other ban threads and found instances where certain posts should not have been removed (many of them were not even close to being oppressive to anyone) and there shouldn't have been a ban on a few users (a simple talking to would have sufficed).

Therefore I decided to message the moderators to revise how this subreddit is being moderated because it is too authoritarian to allow any form of free speech or to allow anyone to have differing opinions from the moderators. I was muted from the modmail and soon banned.

I assumed that this was the appropriate place to discuss / challenge moderation and I assumed that the modmail was the proper place to call for revision of moderation. Apparently I was wrong for having assumed that.

Anyway, I request that this decision is reversed because I don't believe I am in violation of any rules.

There is no reason for your ban in the moderation log, and I can't see a metanarchism post either.

Because of that I've removed the ban for now.

I'm going to start posting all these threads I create to the drama subs myself, stealing all of forseti's sweet sweet internet points.

Four different drama subs?!

r/bettersubredditdrama is a clone of SRD. Everything posted to SRD automatically goes there. So technically, Forseti has only linked to three drama subs.

Why would they have one?

User has post history in r/MensRights and r/Egalitarianism, thinks feminists are just big meanies, and is unwilling to examine why people find his comments problematic, like referring to trans women as "ex-men", instead turning to screaming "AUTHORITARIUNZ!" all about.

Yeah, this should last long.

-1†
sync0pate•

Are you actually quoting that from somewhere?

6
-Enkara-Literally Thought Police - weeewoooweewooo•

Nope, it's Enkara paraphrasing based on looking through his post history.

But maybe when trans women are being put into male prisons to get raped and beaten, or put into solitary for years to go crazy (for their protection), arguing about the validity of the debate about whether they need to get the fuck out of there, while calling trans women "ex-men" isn't something that should get a pass.

-2†
TAEHSAENOP•

I have 100% maintained that it is valid to discuss where we should place trans people when it comes to prisons. Not once have I justified what happened to that person and not once have I wished anything ill of that person. I simply maintained there's nothing wrong questioning / talking about where to place people when they get a sex-change. Look at you twisting my words around to make it sound like I was I was justifying the practice of putting trans women into male prisons. Straw man.

Again, I'm sorry I haven't been given the necessary education to talk about men who get a sex-change surgery to become women.

I realize ex-men might be offensive and I'm willing to be corrected.

All it takes is simply informing me the correct way to refer to them.

Instead you go about trying to smear my personality, try to make me look like a bad guy and exclude me from this community by getting me banned. Nope sorry, its just that you're an online bully.

2†
TAEHSAENOP•

I don't see any problem with having posted in either of those two subs. People should be judged by what they actually say or actually do; but you want to dismiss people by pointing out where they say it.

You are a horrible person who likes to silence people by labeling them and dismissing them out of hand.

I don't even remember having posted on MensRights (I might have, but I'm not even subscribed there anymore) and yeah I posted in Egalitarianism because I believe in equal rights (ohmargaawd) and I think all my posts pertain to the concept of equality.

I'm sorry I don't have your brain and my opinions aren't 100% same as yours. I'm not ashamed for being the kind of person I am, but I think you should take a good hard look at the kind of person you are.

0†
-Enkara-Literally Thought Police - weeewoooweewooo•

Well, your posts in those subreddits are cringy for the most part it's not like you're openly arguing for the complete subjugation of all women... you know, the normal shit that MensRights talks about.

My main objection is that you seem to think moving trans women (or as you so delightfully refer to us "ex-men", srsly wtf?) out of mens prisons, and solitary confinement is some big academic debate we can all just circlejerk eachother about, rather than actually supporting and acting against that system.

So seriously, fuck you, you're a horrible person and I'd enjoy spending some time with you with a belt sander.

I find nothing cringe-worthy regarding my posts about r/eglitarianism.

In fact, you're a super creepy, sad and lonely person for going through my post history trying to find shit on me.

Holy shit you do realize this is an invasion of privacy, stalking and harassment?

  1. As I already said, I didn't know how to refer to males getting sex-change so I used ex men for a lack of better words. I will avoid doing so in the future. All it would've taken was you correcting me ONCE. Instead you're hounding me.

  2. You're twisting my words again. I simply said this is a valid form of discussion. You can have a majority consensus on what should be done in regards to placing trans people in prisons. But we will never reach that consensus if we don't discuss it. That is my point. You're twisting my words and putting it on a slippery slope just to try to make it look like I said something really bad when I didn't.

No seriously, you're the horrible person. You're a manipulative liar, an online bully and a MASSIVE creep.

-3†
punkswcleankitchens•

You were muted from modmail not because you disagreed with our moderating but because you were filling it with dumb shit like "what if floyd mayweather was a trans woman" and being super aggravated and demanding about whatever it is you actually wanted. The mute function exists, to paraphrase what the admins told us, to allow users to "cool down" and that is exactly what you needed to do, cool down. You said the other person being banned made you feel "extremely marginalized and silenced" which is an absurd hyperbole, and makes you look like a giant troll.

4
sync0pate•

Yup. This is what I told them after they pm'ed me.

4
TAEHSAENOP•

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately, what some of you will never understand that when you exclude a person from the community, just for the slightest of offense, it really really hurts.

When a kid gets kicked out of school just because used a curse word in class (once), then it really hurts.

In most cases you actually have to be expelled from a community to understand how it feels when people unjustly excludes you.

Because of a small minority of mods and members here, /r/@ has become an exclusionary place where a small minority blatantly abuses their position of authority in the sub and excludes whoever they don't like.

Believe it or not, online harassment is a real thing.

I'm being served up to mob justice where there is no such thing as due process.

I didn't break any rules yet I am getting punished just because I have a different opinion on free speech than some of the members here.

I got banned again. This isn't fair. punkswcleankitches you can disagree with me to the furthest extent, insult me, etc. but don't exclude me like this for no reason. I did nothing wrong but I'm still banned. I would appreciate it if you could lift it.

-3†
punkswcleankitchens•

You're not being harassed, you're being encouraged to go away. I'm not the one who banned you but I'm also not going to lift it. Best wishes and a happy holidays from all of us at r/anarchism

it really really hurts.

I drink your tears.

When a kid gets kicked out of school just because used a curse word in class (once), then it really hurts.

Yup, being banned from one particular subreddit is exactly like being expelled from the mandatory state-run education sytem, in that it permanently alters your chances in life and.... Oh wait, no. No, they're nothing alike.

In most cases you actually have to be expelled from a community to understand how it feels when people unjustly excludes you.

So then, you could understand why currently oppressed minority groups might not want your cishet status-quo affirming bullshit in a space nominally considered "for them".

Because of a small minority of mods and members here, /r/@ has become an exclusionary place where a small minority blatantly abuses their position of authority in the sub and excludes whoever they don't like.

Did I just win "Evil Mod Cabal" Bingo?

You realize this sub is explicitly anarchist, right? Like, of course we aren't going to be "tolerant" of apologists, capitalists, or bigots.

3
Another_Dupont•

Oppose. OP is a dense brocialist fuck who is constantly JAQ'ing off. Rewarding their behavior will only lead to more shitposts later on.

freezepeach for bigots is an inalienable right!

"Look at that sexist comet. It's trying to strip away Berta Lovejoy's identity. Not to mention the comet's size is a trigger for healthier people like us... #HealthAtEverySize" fat jokes... soo clever.

3†
TAEHSAENOP•

Yes I stand by free speech (NOT hate speech) for everyone and yes free speech is an inalienable right. Noam Chomsky agrees with me. The fact that you're saying otherwise makes you a "dense authoritarian fuck".

As for the joke, that was almost an year ago and I was drawn in by the Berta Lovejoy euphoria on youtube. It was just my pathetic attempt at a joke and I apologize to anyone it offended.

But seriously, whats your basis for banning me? What rule have I violated? Now its ok for online bullies like you to ban whoever you don't like from the community just because you feel like it?

Its people like you and Enkara who should be banned to prevent this place from going to shit.

2†
Another_Dupont•

If you support the free speech of bigots, you are supporting hate speech. When you say "their opinion deserves to be considered with the same degree of merit as any other opinion" you legitimize their bigoted views and contribute to the chilling effect experienced by targeted minority groups. You aren't demonstrating tolerance, you're perpetuating the status quo. Also, you're just quoting Noam Chomsky as though his academic status confers legitimacy to the views you hold.

If it isn't clear, I'm not in favor of this bullshit "LEGALitarian" definition where all speech is flattened into equally powerless rhetoric. In reality, speech isn't equal precisely because of the dis-proportionality of its effects. To use an example you've seen before, bigots "ironically" dressing as Klansmen, or in blackface, isn't the same thing as someone dressing up like Mulan. Nor is asking for consideration from fellow students an act of censorship.

It's funny you're such a noble advocate of "free speech", but can't recognize that you getting kicked out of here would still constitute an act of free speech; that my opposition to your presence here still actually constitutes an act of free speech; and that no one is being a bully for wanting you gone. Why do freezepeach nerds always trot out that "authoritarian/ism" bullshit when someone practices the very thing they should be in favor of? Free speech isn't the right to an audience.

You don't want to be like Goebbels, do you? Your favorite armchair revolutionary thinks you should respect my rights to want you gone:

"Goebbels was in favor of free speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you’re really in favor of free speech, then you’re in favor of freedom of speech for precisely the views you despise. Otherwise, you’re not in favor of free speech.”"

-Noam Muthafuckin Chomsky

2
TAEHSAENOP•

If you support the free speech of bigots, you are supporting hate speech. When you say "their opinion deserves to be considered with the same degree of merit as any other opinion"

Straw man argument. You are a manipulative liar.

If you refer back to my post on free speech I said:

If a person uses any form of hate speech against other individuals, I personally believe that we have a moral duty to stand up for the victims of these attacks and we must do everything in our power to fight back (as long as we don't resort to violence of course).

But that said, we morally should never advocate for a system that uses authoritarian power to use coercion to silence another individual, no matter what his beliefs are.

Similarly, as a society we should be able to break up KKK rallies because that is precisely exercising our right to free speech as well. But all I'm saying is that this should be in our hands, we should not allow the state to sit in judgement of what is permissible and what is not.

My entire argument was about making sure that the STATE (or other forms of unchallenged authority) does not have the power to determine what is acceptable forms of free speech and what is not. I was specifically saying that this power should be in our hands as people, not in the hand of the state.

You misconstrued my argument to draw a straw man and attacked me for an argument that I did not make.

It's funny you're such a noble advocate of "free speech", but can't recognize that you getting kicked out of here would still constitute an act of free speech

No, what's funny is that you're claiming that good old Voltairinede was simply using their free speech to silence me.

So you mean to say Voltairinede "used their free speech" by violating several of the moderation policies that the community collectively decided upon to unjustly ban me without providing any reason? That doesn't sound like a case of free speech at all, its called abuse of authority power. That is precisely what I advocated against in my post about free speech.

If anything, Voltairinede should be removed as a moderator for having abused their power.

-2
Another_Dupont•

no matter what his beliefs are

So... then you're saying bigots should be free to say bigoted hateful shit. Either you're for some limits on discourse, or you're not. I'm just for more limits than you.

we should be able to break up KKK rallies

What would you propose we do, tut loudly when walk by? Ask them not to rally in our neighborhoods, or vandalize our public spaces, or just please don't beat so many of us up? Fuck that.

not in the hand of the state

TIL r/anarchism is a state, because you really meant only states can wield the authoritarian power of censorship, and yet you just accused moderators here of doing exactly that.

If you refer back to my post

No thanks. I was referring to our exchange regarding schools "censoring" students for asking them not to wear racist costumes, but of course you'd misconstrue that as an opportunity to reference your wall of text about the glories of frozen peaches. Hence the references to Mulan costumes(your pet example of "ambiguity") or students asking to be respected as equals(the letter from the college to students about potentially racist costumes).

I'm unclear here. You say we're morally obliged to resist the hate speech of bigots, I get that. If it isn't actually censorship just to deny them a platform here on our sub, then why are you so salty we ban them? Your phony displays of "tolerance" are really just concern trolling, and serve to maintain the status quo.

Voltairinede "used their free speech"

Yup. Beautiful, ain't it?

violating several of the moderation policies that the community collectively decided upon to unjustly ban me without providing any reason

...they may be banned at the discretion of an individual mod.. You are not entitled to a reason for being banned, nor is any mod required to document their reasoning. Please continue whining about made-up abuses of "authority power".
