To craft Meteor or not?

Discussion

I have enough orbs to craft Meteor (but not to hone), and it's awful tempting. I already have R1 Full Break and R4 Quake and R4 Ruinga. Is crafting Meteor worth it given this?

meteor is one of the only 5*s available that are worth creating and honing at this point in time. so yes, you should

  1. He said right in his original post that he already has FB.

  2. Meteor and FB have no orbs in common, so you can create and hone all day long without worrying about any interference with each other.

Sorry man I had to do it lol

  • If you need more AoE black magic beyond Ruinga/Quake, yes
  • If you already have well-honed summons, no
  • If you want to save for future 5* abilities (and there will be better ones), no

Ruinga doesn't always one-shot the trash in the hardest elite dungeons, and I've found that Meteor (and Valefor) often packs just enough extra punch to do so. I definitely recommend it!

I personally don't find it too appealing after taking orb conversion into account. It's largely a QoL ability that costs.... alot... between R1 and R2 it literally costs hundreds of greater orbs. At R1, you get 2 shots, half or more than half of the elite dungeons have more than 8 rounds of trash, you'll run out way before and will have to rely on Valefor or other AOE.

Full break is the only one I'll consider atm, for the sole reason that it stacks with breakdowns. It'll help with the most difficult Misfortune fights that are coming soon. Meteor won't be what you want to bring to MF fights. If you have no problem clearing Elite dungeons there's no need to make Meteor. Yea, I can't 1 shot the hardest mobs with Ruinga, I'm fine 2 shotting them :) and then I'll use the hundreds of greater orbs that I saved to get more of the useful 4 star abilities.

I like it because it gives me my 3rd nuker. If you have 3 really strong mage weapons then you might want to give this a try:

Runiga R4 + some other well honed ability or spell, Magic boosting RM

Meteor R1 + some other well honed ability or spell, BM RM2

Valefor R3 or R4 + some other well honed ability or spell, Sum RM2

I have Oak Staff, Binding Rod, Magistral Rod so even before checking for 3++ RS gear I can whip out some good AOE waveclear numbers.

If you arrange things to use 1 Val, 1 Meatballs, and 1 Runiga per battle then you can get to boss with 5 charges of ruinga and full servings of meatballs & Val.

I liked this setup so much I insta-honed meatballs to R2 right after getting the last MBO from current boss rush.

Absolutely, I take R1 Meteor to most content, including boss rushes.

Yes.

I almost never take Meteor because Ruinga R4 and Valefor R4 take care of my aoe needs, but I usually only run 1 or 2 offensive casters. Still a good skill tho.

If you are up to speed with Dungeon Updates, the FF3 Behemoth can cast it, and it uses the exact same Animation:

Basically, imagine a screen-covering Version of Comet: Giant burning Rocks falling from the Sky.

Most people will probably say yes, I on the other hand advocate Meteor isn't really worth it. It's only got 1 big selling point, and that's for trash clearing, and even that isn't all that impressive since you can use either the much easier to hone Quake/Ruinga or the more powerful and also easier to hone Valefor/Maduin.

People will say Ruinga's lower multiplier won't allow it to 1-shot higher difficulty trash, but with it at R4 you can forgo Mana Spring II and use Devotion instead to make it stronger and even boost it further with Mana Paen (if you're already bringing it to the boss). And even if after that it can't 1-shot, then there's nothing saying you can't 2-shot trash (some have over 9999Hp, so they're impossible to 1-shot anyway). Higher hones also means it's much more useful against those multi part bosses.

As for Summons, people complain about only getting 1 more use per hone, but it's easier to get 4* Summons to R4 than Meteor to R2 (which takes the equivalent of 750 Greater Orbs), and once Orb conversion hits all those Major Summon Orbs can be turned into Greater Summon Orbs and allow you to easily get two R5 4* Summons that actually have a higher multiplier than Meteor for a lower Orb cost.

So I'd just advice saving those Major Orbs either for future conversion or to craft some of the new 5* abilities that JP is releasing and look a lot more unique and useful.

And even if after that it can't 1-shot, then there's nothing saying you can't 2-shot trash

This is very important. 1-shotting is not the end-all be-all, you actually want to use as many actions as possible without costing an actions metal (or two in some situations) so you will have your SB gauges charged up by the boss fight. The actions you have available each battle is a very important resource many people take for granted in their quest to 1-shot everything!

One day Quake and Ruinga will falter... and on that day a new hero will rise... Meteor!

I have R2 meteor and R4 ruinga, R3 quake.

Having R2 meteor with these as complimentary skills allows you to use an RM like devotion to boost magic instead of one focused on mana spring. so there is trade off for losing casts during the trash and more damage on the boss. (or whatever other RM you want)

Did it, never regretted it. I am 1 MEO from R2 and I will do it, as soon as RNG grants me that pleasure.

There is not a single dungeons I don't take it ( I run mage meta with 2BM, 1 WM, 1SM, 1Supp)

1
JniteI hate jump rope•

Absolutely. When it first came out, I wasn't sure if it would be worth making it due to it only being at R1. I decided to go ahead and make it anyway because I knew it wouldn't conflict with other abilities I was planning to create. Glad I did because it has shined as one of the most used abilities in my arsenal ever since.

Even at R1 it is a great ability. What it lacks in hones in makes up with in power. I was using it all the time at R1, and after I was recently able to hone it to R2, it's basically always equipped. Mana Spring II is an obvious must for it.
