[Unverified] Anti-SJW hashtags no longer autocomplete on Twitter?
Here's another apparent example of what seems to be Twitter’s ever-growing political bias. When you starting typing a hashtag (#), it will gradually come up with different suggestions for auto-completion as you type it out. GamerGate used to be suggested from the moment you typed #Ga, now it doesn’t show up at all. However, right now if I type #Gamer, I get the suggestion #GamerGateFailed. Interesting. #GamerG yields the additional suggestion of #gamergateTimeTravel. How helpful.
Now, when this first happened it seemed like it could just be a bug (sometimes #GamerGate would autocomplete, sometimes it wouldn’t), but now it more and more consistently won’t autocomplete, and hasn’t done so for me at all for several days. Some Twitter users explained this by GamerGate being an old hashtag, crowded out by newer ones. Fast forward to this weekend then, when #JeSuisMilo became one of the hottest hashtags on Twitter. Suspiciously (seeing how this was a hashtag that condemned Twitter’s bias and hypocrisy) it soon vanished from the list of trending hashtags, and shortly after that it completely stopped autocompleting. This despite being one of the weekend’s most popular hashtags, not a near-ancient one like #GamerGate.
However, the misandrist hashtag #wastehistime still autocompletes. #ResistCapitalism still autocompletes. Even #Killallwhitemen is still an autocomplete hashtag. But not #JeSuisMilo, not #rapefugees (another hashtag that blew up this week, for obvious reasons), and according to several German users I’ve come across, various Anti-Angela Merkel hashtags never end up autocompleting either. Now, all this could all just be a case of bugs or Twitter being slow to update – but given its record of double standards, this issue seems worth investigating further.

This seems like Twitter is starting to implement containment stuff that we heard about earlier.
twitter has saudi investor ( second biggest stake holder), which makes sense given how twitter was instrumental in arab spring.
How was Twitter instrumental in the Arab Spring, and how would a Saudi Arabian man benefit from the Arab Spring?
How Twitter helped in the Arab Spring:
"We use Facebook to schedule the protests, Twitter to coordinate, and YouTube to tell the world."
A Saudi investor would rather want Twitter to curtail Twitter's potential in spreading movements like the Arab Spring again, because the Arab Spring was a threat to the Saudi government.
Makes sense, now SJW are in bed with a promoter of known terrorist supporters and a royal family who believe in stripping women of their rights. They really are stupid.
Actually, the "Arab Spring" took down some of the Saudis major rivals and cemented them as #1 in the middle east. They may be sick of it by now though.
In 2016 there would be a completely different tool. These guys are playing whack a mole with technology.
Twitter helped because it was in the right place at the right time.
They are in talks to buy snapchat soon.
Just jumping in at the top here. Can we get a #GGTest hastag going to see if it shows up on twitter autofill?
They won't censor that one, because they'll know we're testing for censorship :P
Doubt they care.
Has George Orwell predicted this? Private companies censoring all "problematic" news seem too Orwellian
Orwell didn't really write anything about private companies censoring themselves or people who use their services. That was more along the lines of Fahrenheit 451.
That has nothing to do with Fahrenheit 451. I realize that it's a common mistake on this sub but the book had zero to do with censorship. Bradbury made that extremely clear.
"Students, reading the novel, which, after all, deals with censorship and book-burning in the future..." - Ray Bradbury
How in blazes you think a book about book burning has zero to do with censorship I can't fathom. Pun not intended but happily noted after punctuating.
Bradbury said many things during his lifetime. Mostly bullshit.
The book literally talks about censoring things in order to not be offensive.
If Bradbury wrote that and then insists the book wasn't about censorship, then he's the shittiest author in history.
He didn't need to predict the phenomenon because it already existed - he had a lot of trouble finding a publisher for Animal Farm because of the prevailing pro-russian sentiment at the time. He talks about it in the foreword to that book.
Eve Online. Corporations are in power there, governments have basically nothing to say. Only neutral power is concord, but they only watch over the rules of war, they don't interfere unless an attack was illegal.
Grrr, goons.
What containment stuff?
I may be getting my stories mixed up, but I believe they were going to implement stuff similar to shadowbans and unviewable containment subs, but for Twitter.
That seems.... stupid and so counter-productive to Twitter as a platform to not even be funny.
One of the reasons why if Twitter doesn't do something it's stock will be 0 before too long.
correct me if im wrong, but wasnt that facebook, not twitter?
Like I said, I could be getting my stories mixed up, but it wouldn't be any sort of stretch to believe Twitter would do these things too.
