Squadmate preferences in MEA

Would you prefer to see most of the old races in your squad, including some we haven't had before like Batarians or Volus, or some of the new ones introduced in Andromeda, or a mix of both? Also would you rather a large array of choices like ME2 or a tighter core like in ME or ME3?

I'd definitely want a large squad like ME2, but I could understand why they'd focus on just a few squad members at first.

Race-wise, I'd want a mix and match of everything, with female or male counterparts of the Trilogy. Like an Asari with a bit more "maleness", being more aggressive and assertive than Liara, or a soldier-like Quarian (RIP Kal'Reegar).

I'd like a whiskey swilling, no bullshit, curses-like-a-sailor Asari. Like Atheyta.

I never realized how much I wanted this until I read this.

Now that I think of it, it'd be kind of like Jack mixed with Isabela from DA.

Atheyta and Kal'Reegar: All the yes.

I'm all good with a large squad as long as they are all properly fleshed out. The gender thing sounds good for some of the races where the cultures make their roles really different, like the Krogan

Only thing I need from ME:A is hot Man on Lizard Kromance. If this is the 4th title where you don't to wrap your arms around some tough space turtle scales I'm outie.

edit: just kidding I forgot he was femshep only

isn't thane kind of like a lizard?

Kinda but I meant like a Krogan. Hot Man on Man Turtle Action.

Mass Effect doesn't feel right without a Krogan squadmate, but we know we're getting one. I want a Batarian and (though practically impossible) another Geth (or AI). We haven't had a Batarian and the self-determination of synthetic life is a major theme in ME.

I just bought the trilogy last week and got to say, I'm in love. I think ME3 nailed the squad based action. I think it was somehow easier to use characters that complimented yours. With that said, I still always pick Liara as one even though I use sentinel haha

2
Jimmy_TableOP•

Nothing wrong with Liara and Sentinel. Bringing all the enemies in tight with a singularity and detonating with a throw got me through Insanity

JamesKam•

Small group like ME3, it allows for stronger character development. I just couldn't connect with the majority of ME2's cast, with me only taking Garrus and Miranda about. As long as we have an Asari in ME:A, I'll be completely content.

I definitely want a Batarian. Given how badass they were in ME3's MP, I'd love to have one on the squad, maybe reflecting on his or her race rebuilding, a hardass Krogan (maybe a Wrex or Grunt child, but that's not necessary,) and maybe an Asari with two or three humans. I can honestly see not having any quarians, simply because of their desire to rebuild Rannoch and limited number to do it. Salarians too--after the actions of ME3, the curing of the Genophage, I can really see a hesitance to work with humans again because of that.

2
Name213whatever•

Padok Wilks was all for curing it. Quite a few others seemed not to mind. Also two Salarians were almost singlehandedly responsible for developing the cure. They don't seem to be a "keep to the party line" species.

Biomilk•

If the Mid-ME3 Ark theory is correct, then I doubt we'll be seeing Batarians unfortunately. They were almost wiped out by the Reapers right out of the gate and their remaining people are either committed to the war effort or scattered across the galaxy. Plus they weren't on great terms with the other races anyway.

I would definitely prefer something akin to ME2. A large diverse squad. Since the main character is human, it isn't without reason to assume that at least two members of the squad are also human. I would like to see at least two Asari, one Salarian, two Krogan, one Quarian, two Turian, and one AI character.

deamonjohn•

I hope I'm not the only who wants a rachni squadmate. (It has to be able to speak somehow of course)

2
GildasMagnus•

Maximum of two Humans, all new races. The possibility of Old races in Andromeda really bugs me from a Lire perspective, unless they pull out all the stops to justify it. I'd like someone akin to a Vorcha or an Elcor on the team, for fun dialogue.

1
Bold_Ruler•

Why does it bug you? We see humans in Andromeda, why wouldn't other races travel with them?

4
GildasMagnus•

The ARK doesn't look that large of a ship. Multiple races makes for too many questions - How did they stock the food, why are they allied so closely, how did they receive sanctions from the various governments to do so.

A purely human Ark, permitted by the Alliance, makes the most sense - and if this is the case, how would the other Aliens get there? Why did the other Arks not get any attention in trailers? Etc etc.

1
Facerafter•

You are assuming that that ship is a ARK and also the only one. It would be weird to just have the humans. We were not even the most advanced race by a long shot.

3
GildasMagnus•

The only information we have so far is that there is a ship designed to act as a form of Ark or long-distance craft, manned by at least a Human. All my previous questions were based around that.

Well, I would say that with a joint multi-race venture would be most appropriate. Though I would chose either asari or salarian (for their long/short lifespans respectively) or krogan (breed like rabbits on viagra). A joint race venture would make more sense (plus open a path for a volus onboard).

1
GildasMagnus•

I don't disagree, but with the ending of 3 as open-ended as it is, the chances of such a venture being Multi-Species to that extent, on a mission of this nature, in the days of the Council is very limited. They're far more likely to send their own private teams, such as the STG.

I think starting out with one human squadmate and a single alien squadmate would be a good first step. Like the start of ME1, except working more closely together. More members/races can be added as the story progresses, which makes for some interesting possibilities. New races are the obvious novelty, but seeing known races in contrasting lights/scenarios to the previous game would be interesting: for instance, what if there is a group like the asari who are sexless/reproduce telepathically, but are all male? Or how about Krogans who favor science and intelligence over physical prowess--explaining why they left their species to seek out their own ideal existence. I think it would be cool to find your second human squadmate as a human already in the Andromeda galaxy: how they got there and what they're doing would be an awesome plotline to unravel.

So I'm okay with old races, so long as they justify it in the lore and it isn't more of the same.

2
SofNascimento•

If I could make my own squad it would be: two humans, one male and one female, one turian, one krogan and one from a new race.

1
meshaber•

Depends on the plot, doesn't it? It's quite likely that we won't start of on good terms with the Andromedans, possible not even being able to communicate, which would largely rule out any new species (although we know that there are many MW species we still don't know about). Spontaneously, that's the angle I assume the plot is headed in.

So I'm hoping for batarians.

1
atariangamer•

I'd be a bit sad if we don't see something of the old races, but if be just fine with new races and characters to learn about and interact with.

Keeping one or two of Milky Way race members would help keep it familiar, but familiar isn't always what is required.

1
Allanlemos•

We're gonna have a female human and a krogan confirmed as squadmates,we saw them both shortly on the E3 trailer,I think we're gonna have a turian and an asari too.If I'm not mistaken, the leak said something about six squadmates.

1
Borous•

I'd kill for some volus squadmates.

1
somerandomguy16•

Honestly I'm ok with either. I liked Me2 because it had a wider selection, but I found myself only really taking 2 or 3 characters on just about every mission, unless there were specific missions that I thought would be interesting to have two opposite characters along on . There better be someone like Wrex or Javik in the next one. I loved the dialogue that Wrex had with either the other squad mate or his comments on whatever situation we were in general.

1
choiwh1972•

as long as they have someone hot like kaidan then i'm good so at least one hot human squadmate

1
Trudemur•

I REALLY want a batarian companion, always have.

1
Thisisalsomypass•

Kind of depends on if this is another trilogy.

If it's another trilogy, I want a small team that grows each game, instead of most of them taking s break and coming back to my team a game later.

If it's a stand alone game, I want 8-10 people to travel with, and a mix of races (I don't think we need two token humans per game anymore), expecting a female turian and male Quarian to reference the Garrus/Tali dynamic

1
mysuperglasses•

I definitely want to see a bunch of new races introduced, alongside some being new squad mates. So a mix of old races and new would be awesome.

1
earthtoannie•

There is only one correct answer and it's elcor squad are.
