Daily F2L Discussion - Case 2
Setup: R' F R F' (sledgehammer)
Most important solution: y' U' R' U R
Angles: Easy from FL + BR. Harder from FR + BL.
Discussion: Another trivial insertion. This is the mirror of case 1. This is one of the four most fundamental cases (along with cases 1, 3, and 4.). Most F2L cases are solved by reduction to cases 1-4.
It is easy to solve from the FL or BR with 3-4 move 2-gen algorithms. From the other two angles, you'll need to rotate and solve as FL/BR. Alternatively, you can use F, l, r, or M moves in order to avoid a cube rotation. Personally, I think that l U L' U' M' from the BL is worth it, while r U R' U' M from FR is not. First, M' moves are easier to execute than M. Second, solving pairs in the back is advantageous, as it increases the odds of your next pair being in the front (and thus easily visible in case of stuck edges or corners).
For beginners, you simply need to know U' L' U L from the FL and U' R' U R from the BR. Knowledge of the other algorithms may orient some edges or save you a cube rotation, but they aren't necessary.
