First Love Gone Bad

He had eyes bluer than the ocean, And stormier than any sea,

He was just seventeen.

Mine were an odd hue, Like my birthstone opal, Green blue,

I was almost sixteen.

Oh, the fragility of such a number, The innocence and ignorant blunders,

Like any other school girl, Love hit me like lightening and thunder.

But, like anything one sided, he took for granted,

All the things I held dear.

He said sweet words, and the farther I fell,

The more things I began to fear.

He was a bad boy, one who called for mending and fixing,

But I was just as sad,

The the closer I claimed, the farther he ran,

Oh how things went from good to bad.

He was warning signs, everything my mother said he would be,

But anymore, I didn't want to listen,

I was thoroughly in love.

But he got meaner and meaner, his words leaving me

Like a bruised dove.

A year passed, nothing but sadness, desperation, and hurt.

I met another, who saved me from more blunders,

but that boy, oh how his wrath thundered,

When I said that we were over.

I was just seventeen,

The decision was sad and final,

we could never be together,

he was only eighteen.

I wrote this for a writing prompt on first love poetry. :P Sorry if its bad. I need to work on formatting.
