Characters you wished you could romance
Which character do you reckon was a missed opportunity for some romance? Who did you wish was an LI and whether you reckon they should've been for Broshep, Femshep or both.

JOKER!!! my all time favorite non-cannon LI
Had a thing for Shiala after ME2... She's hot, she's a badass, plus she's into redemption. Check, check and check!
Think she would have made a great squad mate in Liara's absence, too.
Plus, it ain't easy being green.
That's so bad it's almost good! Worthy of an upvote at least!
You forgot the key part: SHE is into YOU.
HELL YEAH I DID!
CHECK!!!

Wow, never thought about that, but yes, that would have been a good solution to have the mandatory token Asari. I would have exchanged Samara for her for sure.
Vega. I know technically you can have a one-night romance playing the Citadel DLC. I haven't tried it yet though because from what I've read about it, it sounds like FemShep crosses some boundaries and my FemShep doesn't prey on her friends.
Yeah, it's a bit creepy imo
Javik night stand ftw.
Wrex.
He was my one true love of the series, and I was sad that I couldn't romance him. I never really clicked with any of the Femshep romances. If Tali or Jack had been available, I would have gotten with them immediately. Ah well, at least he finds someone just as badass as him.
Okay, so I never really cared for the romance aspect of the games, but there is one thing that I do think is missing on this point.
Some random dude/dudette. You know, someone who isn't on the Normandy first of all, but who you can only meet on the Citadel. Someone who isn't a badass, or shadow broker, or important whatever. A teacher or bartender or construction worker or something. Maybe make the same character an "old friend" if you don't go the romance route, the games are somewhat lacking in terms of connecting you to the average person (DA2 did this much better for example). You could lock in the romance by having someone (probably Ash, she's nosy) asks you "What about you, anybody waiting for you back home?".
They did try that with the yeomen. Chambers and Traynor are in the crew, but they have lived their whole lives outside of the military bubble. However, they did get sucked in Shepard's own mass relay.
Yeah, but someone who isn't on the Normandy would be part of the point. You know, just the kind of thing that the expression "somebody waiting back home" is there for. Fairly common for real life soldiers after all.
Traynor are in the crew, but they have lived their whole lives outside of the military bubble.
Traynor is military though. Just not normally in a combat role.
They were also interested in making Kenneth a romance option at one point. It was originally written to be a light-hearted, humorous romance, but they decided to scrap it.
That would make so much sense (looking at you, u/EllairaJayd), but I guess this is the classic game/TV show thing where only major members of the cast could fall for each other. Or if it's anyone else it's only a one-night stand.
Haha yeah I like that idea. My story was a response to the lack of good romance options for femshep (in my opinion). I don't know if it would work quite as well to have some random marine be a romance interest in game. I guess if you made him really interesting?
Sooooooo Conrad Verner?
I said someone who is entirely unimportant, Conrad gives War Assets ;)
Bailey for FemShep?
Important, influential, big deal. So no.
Edit: Not saying the character in question couldn't be "important" or a "big deal", just that they shouldn't be important in a way that relates to the main plot or the war effort or whatever. Could be a celebrity or a respected biologist or something. ME2 Bailey maybe, but not ME3.
Kasumi and Chakwas, but on the other hand,I'm glad Shepard can only be friends with them.
The two above, in addition to Gianna Parasini, really. ;)
I honestly wanted Kasumi to try and make a move on Jacob at some point, just to see what happened. I was kind of sad when Jacob got into a relationship in 3
EDI. Always EDI.
That sounds pretty painful though.
He's a big guy
For you
I am not easily repulsed.
''I am surprised at your continued existence, Shepard. The probability of you surviving as long as you have is low.''
Javik, for both Shepards. Shepard has the prothean cipher inside their head, they have an instinctive knowledge/connection. And what did they do with it? Reduced it to a plot device. But not only that, Javik was a leader, Shepard is a leader. I think they really get each other.
There's that one scene from the Citadel DLC...
Ah, yes, "that one scene from the Citadel DLC".
We have dismissed that claim.
Can confirm, dismissed.
Blasto!
Only to have him revealed as the preacher you dealt with in ME1.
This one was moved by your actions. This one wishes to show you the depth of its love.
They only refer to themselves as "I" when they're among those closest to them. "I love you" would be a very powerful statement then.
Kasumi
Joker. Or Garrus as maleshep.
Emily Wong
In ME 1, it was Tali. Also Gianna and Shiala. Maayybe Kasumi. And Traynor could've been bi. Grrrr.
For Femshep I dunno. She really got the short end of the stick.
Dr. Chakwas for us older players.
Gianna Parasini
The asari council member (either one). It would've been fun if Shepard had had an inside track to the council.
Aria's tapping dat though.
Plus renegade shep could blackmail her to end it in 3.
At least Joker thinks she's hot.
Always Kasumi. She's so cute.
Emily Wong. She should have been an alternative to Diana Allers.
Would have been nice if Shepard would have been the one to find her alive after she was presumed dead for the longest time after launch (going down in a pretty badass way).
hah no all shes good for is beating on
Pretty sure you're thinking of Kalisah
Didn't someone point out the Alliance Requisitions Officer the last time this topic came up?
My Shepard was pretty Paragon, but I still think it would be nice if you could break Omega's one rule.
I'm honestly surprised it didn't go there. They throw a massively important character at you and do very little with her other than have her point out quest locations for you.
It's true that she feels a little underutilized in the base games, because she's a pretty interesting character. the Omega DLC kinda fixed that even though it was a little short.
Looking back, I kinda wish she had been a potential squadmate in ME3. The extra slot would have been filled by Samara if paragon and by Aria if renegade or if Samara is dead. It makes sense to me because they are a bit of a mirror image of each other, and also because Aria sitting in Purgatory doing nothing seems completely out of character, since she knows what a threat the Reapers are and that she would get the opportunity to weaken Cerberus by joining Shepard. Extra bonuses from that would be to get to see her point of view of all the different situations Shepard finds himself in, a possible romance with Shepard and possible confirmation of her being Aleena by Wrex. Seeing them reunited would be a great scene.
Aria was always a fascinating character to me, it's disappointing they didn't do more.
Especially considering the VA is Carrie-Anne Moss, now that just sounds like a waste of talent...
Maybe that is the issue. It's likely that she, a famous flesh actress, commands a healthy sum which makes it expensive to get her to make very long voice roles. I'm guessing that the Omega DLC was the most they could do.
