Pull the Trigger
(I'm having a bit of trouble trying to format this in the way I wrote it, so I took a picture of the original to show you guys how I originally wrote it. I feel like it's important to the tone of the poem. http://imgur.com/share/i/61mqw2S
As I twiddle my thumbs and recall my past,
I remember a man of horror and sin,
a man most disgraceful,
a shame to his blood,
a shame to his kin.
Soon, however, my glory shall be restored,
As I walk, fear put aside,
into welcoming floors.
Greeted with grace and elegance I see
a girl,
such peaceful eyes...
a stunning bright green.
I shut my eyes and muster all my courage
as I draw my weapon and point in her direction.
Time stops.
This girl,
so innocent, so peaceful...a horrified glimmer in her eyes.
a weapon, so dangerous, so shameful,
Sweat trickles down my sides...
as every
last
drop
falls
to the
floor.
I pull the trigger.
My heart stops.
