AFTV use sd card to cache?

I just got a fire tv 4K a couple months ago. Been using kodi and I keep getting cache full note when buffering.

I am not currently using zero cache.

Is there a way to set up zero cache, but send everything to a micro sd card? I've read how bad zero cache is how it writes and deletes and wears out the device. If I do this on a sd card and it dies, couldn't I just replace the card? No harm to the fire tv itself?

I'm curious if this same concept would work on a Flash drive instead of SD card.

Yeah, it does.

I suppose you could. Just make sure Kodi is writing to the SD.

I use these settings on all of my Fire boxes and sticks. If you're still experiencing buffering problems, then it's most likely the source of the media.

I do think a part of it is the source. I've been using mainly Genesis and switched to other add-ons and found it doesn't buffer as much, sometimes at all

Before you go on your quest to cache to disk, first modify advanced settings to allow more ram to be used for caching.

How do you do this?

Whyyyyy... Why do you want zero cache? Just set it up to buffer in RAM.

That is what I am doing. I'm not using zero cache. I'm just curious if it's possible to cache to a sd card.

Yes, it's possible. But why would you want to? You have enough RAM for playback without caching to disk.

What RAM size do you recommend that works well with FireTV box?

The Ares Wizard will set your ram/cache to the safest maximum size. This really fixed my buffering on my ftv2. https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-ares-wizard-kodi/
