Reminder: Get Cid's RM2 before this weekend if you can!

Hopefully this goes without saying, but as someone who hasn't got the Ace Pilot RM yet I was waiting for the Saturdaily for my most efficient chance. Given that I'm now planning to sink some mythril into Orbfest refreshes, my bonus battle plans have been put on hold until I get hold of it.

There's probably some mathcraft to apply here, but I've no idea of the drop rates or conditions (is it just a straight-up chance after any FFVII 'room' regardless of difficulty)?

Got it in 20 stamina. Either the drop rate is very high, or everyone is getting crazy lucky RNG, given how rarely they do drop looks at Josef

I egged a lvl 1 cid to 50 and spent 16 stamina to get ace pilot this morning...i've spent hundreds of stamina and still don't have double hit...

I'm convinced zeroes weren't carried over on the Double Hit drop rate.

Another thing that's just occurred to me is that the optimal way to make use of the RM during Orbfest is to first max out any characters that can reliably champion the floors solo. Going in with only one character gives an expected total exp increase of 20%, as opposed to 4% with 4 other characters in the party.

I say 'optimal', but of course most people will have low-level characters they want to 50/65 before this is worth considering.

I didn't consider this - it's actually a really good idea. Throw in Loner RM, and just about any melee will be able to reliably solo the whole stage provided you have a 5* weapon and armor of some sort.

I can always egg a new character to 50, but getting them frm 65->80 is much harder.

Edit: No coffee makes me silly; of course I can't run Loner and Ace Pilot at the same time.

How are you throwing in Loner RM when you are using Ace Pilot RM? Unless you mean to run it two-man.

No way to do so, I wasn't thinking clearly.

Although 2-man wouldn't be bad either, especially if the Ace Pilot candidate is particularly weak. You effectively cut the Bonus from 20% to 10% at that point, but it would be worth the tradeoff if the Ace Pilot candidate can't cut it solo.

This is how I got Terra from 65 to 80 on SunDaily. As an added bonus, EXP comes fast enough you get more ability/HP refreshes from leveling up, making the whole process that much easier.

The general consensus is that it has a chance to drop per round, not per enemy. As such most efficient places to get Record Materia are the 3 round for 2 stamina dungeons like Underground Waterway or Mako 5

Decided to heed your suggestion re: Ace Pilot RM just now. Egged Cid to 50, broke his cap. Abandoned the Malice event for a while and fought Elite Dyne and what do you know... Ace Pilot RM. Lucky!

In order to obtain a characters RM, you're required to do battles in their story line ?

To piggyback off this comment, while some RM's only drop is specific realms it does not have to be in a story dungeon realm. Things like Ace Pilot can be dropped in dungeons (usually more stamina efficient for RM farming purposes), dailies or even events.

For example, to get Garnet's RM2 you have to be in a FFIX realm. The cheapest stage in FFIX is like 12 stamina each, so it's best to wait till an FF9 event to grind it out as stage 1 is usually 2-3 stamina.

Just got it the drop now.

Total stam spent was somewhere in the 160 range.

Yeah, got it in the 2 Stamina dungeon (think thats Mako Reactor 5?) took about 30 stamina. Others got it in less, so just grind there and you'll be good.

I was planning on farming it while farming Saturdaily. But then I had nothing to use my stamina on and decided to see if Barret/Cloud had any special dialogue in the Guard Scorpion battle (Nope), so Cid tagged along and BOOM Ace Pilot in the first round.

Everything's turning up just fiiiiiiiiiiine.

Not the end of the world if you miss out on it. It's just a 3% increase in exp gain in a full party. Scales up to a max of 15% if used on a solo character.

Though, given how easy last orb weekend was, running solo runs with chars that have access to some aoe ability is not an impossible feat.

Is the proc rate 15%? All the sources I've read cite 20%.

My experience was 15% (actually lower, but combined it with reports from others) - I've not found anyone datamining it yet, very possible it's 20%.

When you consider the first Abyss/Nightmare dungeons are going to be BLMs, maybe Ruinga/Meteor + Drainga's the way to go solo?

I just loaded up Mako Reactor 5 to try for it. It dropped on the first battle, second wave. A whopping 2 stamina spent trying to get it. Judging from the other posts it seems to have a high drop rate.

Great PSA! Most of these are pretty lackluster, but I'll most definitely be grabbing this rm2. Thanks for the reminder!

Post Farming Edit Ace Pilot in 1st Wave of 1st Round of 1st Attempt at Mako Reactor No. 5. I guess I'd best settle in and farm any other non-realm specific RM's while my luck holds.

Here's a link to the specific part of the guide about RMs u/3rdStrongest was talking about. I would read the whole thing since it has a lot of helpful information for a newer player.

Also Cid's 1st memory crystal (which is required for unlocking his 1st and 2nd Record materia) will be available in the VII event coming in a couple weeks.

If you want to look up specific RMs you can do it in the FFRK App Library by going to the main screen and clicking "The Annex" button above the event dungeons. Also you can look at Enlir's Spreadsheet which has lists all the RMs (even ones not yet released in Global).

Best way for RM drops is the equipment dungeon on easy. The drop rates for materials is really good. I never have to worry about mats because of this. Unfortunately, you have to be in a FF7 dungeon for Cid's.

Is it just me or are RMs dropping at a much better rate after the update? I got 4 to drop today already and they include the non-specific realm drops.

it's considered a drop like potions/ethers/gil/orbs/items/rms. determined when you spend the stamina to generate the battle.

I usually wouldn't go out of my way to farm an RM, but because Mako 5 is low stamina and it seemed like this one had a favorable drop rate for some reason, I decided to give it a try. That turned out to be a good thing because it only took 20-30 Stamina to get it ahead of the orbfest.

Not sure if the drop rate is really that great or if it's primarily the lucky people posting, but for me at least it was worth the time.

long time lurker, dumb question incoming: in Mako reactor 5, there are 3 stages, can i just keep repeating the 2nd (sector 4 plate - substructure) without leaving the dungeon to farm? or are the drops pre determined for the whole dungeon (like i need to kill the boss and keep coming in)
