Containers should open everything inside

[Question]

Okay, this is probably popular opinion time, but if you're opening a container, instead of returning a container item, it should roll on that container's drop table and return that instead. So if you get a mordrem cache, and open it, instead of giving you a heavy thorned bag, it just rolls on the heavy thorned bag's loot table. Bagception over; if you want to sell heavy thorned bags on the TP, you'll have to hope you loot them.

The whole point of bags is that you see in your inventory where it came from, and that bags stack better than a bunch of crafting materials and masterwork equipment. This isn't relevant when we start opening bags, so let's skip the intermediate step.

Anyway, to salvage this trainwreck of a post: are there any containers that people need to loot that are exclusively contained inside other containers? For instance, many of the collections in HoT want you to open a container, like anything that keys off the Silver adventure reward chest. Are there any containers in any of these collections that only come from opening another container?

Not if you can sell the smaller container (christmas gifts etc)

But it's also useful to know that doing X grants Y container, because then you can use Y container's stats to know the drop rates.

Only really annoying one is fractal encryptions. Here, unlock all these encryptions to gain unlocked encryptions. Ok. Now open them.... Guessing that's a coding quirk.

But I can hoard opened encyryptions insted of keys and chests separatly. ._.

I don't know if it's a quirk; it looks like it's the same code that Mawdrey et al work on, except that a fractal encryption gets consumed along with the key.

I did consider whether it should just be account-bound bags. There are a couple of instances where it's useful to sell the bags, but usually people aren't selling the bags for the sake of the bags, but for what's inside them. Bags are usually in large enough supply that the price of the bags is close to the average price of its drop table; if you just drop what's inside, on average it works out the same, with one less step.

I don't know if hundreds of thousands of clicks spread out across the playerbase is really a good enough price to pay to make it easier for the dozen people who do science posts.

Personally I'd prefer to open them separately, especially in regards to "Hoping I loot" stuff that I may prefer to sell.
