Hi, the noob here. I found this article about Kasparov vs Putin. He is interviewed by an Italian journalist and showman. In the interview he repeteadly criticizes Putin. Here's a synopsis of his main points:

  • “Fighting against Putin is my vocation”.
  • “I'm worried that something bad could happen to my family because of this”.
  • “Putin hates transparency (perfect information). He could be a good poker player, but he'll never excel at chess, because in order to win he has to lie and threaten the opponent, and that is not allowed in chess”.
  • “Putin is a bigger threat to the UE than the IS is. He wants to fuel chaos, that's why he's involved in the Sirian conflict. Merkel is his main opponent […] Putin doesn't care about the rules”.
  • “In Russia the only areas that have recieved increasing investiments are Defence and Propaganda. The difference between URRS' propaganda and Putin's propaganda is that the latter is not focused on projecting the people to a supposedly better, happier future, but rather on the negativity of the present, where Russia stands against the whole world with Putin as its leader”.

Now as I said this is just a synopsis, but I did not change the meaning of Kasparov's points in any way. I want that to be clear. That being said, what's your opinion on the matter?

P.S. Sorry if there are any grammatical/ orthographical mistakes, English is not my mother tongue.

Kasparov is an outspoken critic of Putin.

In other news, water is wet...

What's your point?

My point was simply to share a chess-related article and hear other people's thoughts :)
