What do you think is the best springtime day hike in GA to see the flowers?

I love Sweetwater creek, and Mount Arabia always looks like another planet that's been mined to death, but what's a must-do springtime hike in this beautiful state?

Head up to Gibbs gardens. Couple bazillion flowers this time of year.

That looks amazing, but I'm looking for more of a nature walk than a cultivated garden kind of thing... I'll keep it in mind for a fancy day, though!

It sounds like you're looking for a longer hike, but Lullwater Trail and South Peachtree Creek Trail (the one that connects Mason Mill and Medlock parks) are both really lovely verdant oases in our area. The old Decatur Waterworks near Mason Mill is really neat...good photo op.

I'm really just looking for any good walk on one of my few days off. I've walked some trails around Medlock before, and they are great. I'll look into those - thanks for the suggestions!

This place would be great for flowers but the trail is very short. It's pretty whimsical though. They have a great birdwatching area in the middle. Woodlands Garden

East Palisades Trail is a great hike. The end of the trail has a bamboo forest that's pretty amazing cause it just comes out of nowhere.

Happy hiking!

Wow, the Decatur one is so close! That's a perfect quickie. I've heard of the East Palisades trail but never heard about the bamboo forest twist! That's exactly the kind of walk I'm looking for - thank you.

just so ya know, one big problem (for me) with East Palisades is its proximity to two major highways, 75 and 285. the roar of traffic usually kind of warps the nature vibe -- again, imo.

i prefer some of the trails further upriver in Roswell. my favorite is a multi-loop trail at 'Gold Branch' which includes a semi-swampy stretch of the river backwater.

Thanks! I'm still interested in the Palisades, but I might take a look at that trail. I used to be an in-home tutor, and I miss my nature breaks between students at various parks in North OTP. I don't recall ever going to that one, though!

For ITP folks near an interstate, the East Palisades are so easy to get to. Was there this week and there were hundreds of trilliums and may apples in bloom. The bamboo forest is really cool, we try to stop there when we paddle the river. The cave is also fairly breath taking.(not really a cave, but a granite outcropping)

Will likely go on Sunday. Thanks! I had the luxury of quiet in the NC mountains this past weekend, so I am just looking for a flowery and interesting walk. Thanks!

Edit: I ain't even fixing the double thanks. Thanks again!
