With a new year approaching, there are some things I'd like to prepare in my life, and this is one. What items are essential or maybe overlooked when preparing a kit like this? Are there cheap or just plain better alternatives to some obvious things? Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!

Hi, I'm wondering if there are any stores in Atlanta (or even in the general area) that sell telescope accesories. A place that closed called "Camera Bug" is listed everywhere, but that's all I can find.
I'm looking for a Barlow lens for mine, and I'd hate to ship it to my apartment since I'm rarely home (and that shit's fragile, yo). Also would love to get it quickly to add to the Thursday Perseid meteor night :) Any camera shops or specialty stores anywhere in GA that I should call?
I love Sweetwater creek, and Mount Arabia always looks like another planet that's been mined to death, but what's a must-do springtime hike in this beautiful state?
I built a neat laser guide out of pvc and foam to replace the cumbersome finder scope on an 8-inch dobsonian. Being broke, I used a cheap laser that has run its course. Now that I am more financially stable, I'd love to revamp this project. Has anyone here had great (or terrible) experiences with any range of lasers?
I was thrown into the position at a pair of dealerships with a background in English and education. I was given VERY little training... but I'm picking things up well and learning a ton, and I have always had an interest in both marketing & design. I've been there for over half a year now :) Still, I'd love to hear some tips or just recommended resources/reading. Thanks in advance! Also AMA if you have any questions about the job!
This might be a good post to recommend any great math book and give reasons, but I am also personally looking for a new math book in my life. I'm not a serious mathematician, but I have studied calculus and have personally studied various aspects of number theory and other bits of math here and there. I'm intrigued most by number theory because it has curious applications, I love probability because poker (and it's just cool), and I'm a big fan of astronomy/astrophysics/etc. I'm least versed in statistics, so I'd love a solid recommendation for a Stat book that I could actually enjoy on my own (if that exists). I could type more weird shit that I'm into, but nah - throw me some book recomme
What do you think? Is it okay for another person to throw the coins for you?
I'm not a big believer, but I always ask those whom I give a reading to throw the coins themselves - ONLY they touch the coins. It's mostly for effect, but why not? I like to take thoughtful things seriously.
What rules do you keep for the coin toss, if any? What do you think of "putting your fate in another's hands" so to speak? Discussions are fun :)
"Different Side Me" by Mixx Addix ft. Spavid & DJ Blacklist. 100% original
soundcloud.com/mixx-addix/different-side-of-m...I've only read the Horace Gregory translation, and I'd love to hear about the others. What's good, what's lacking, and what are the options?
Also, cheers to r/books for the newfound frontpage status! Keep up the excellence.
I'm creating a portfolio for a job opportunity at an EDM club, and I need some interviews. If you'll be up for an hour or so, reply with a link to your music so I can do some preliminary research and write up a few questions (that should take ~30 mins). I would really appreciate the help. This is the job I've always wanted! Just think, you can have a cool interview to put up on your website.
A friend from Ohio bought me a ticket (first burn!), and driving up there alone seems silly if it can be avoided. I'd love to chip in on gas and driving time if anyone else is headed that way. I've never been in an accident, and I already have the gas money set aside. I'm also not bringing much in terms of space, since I have plenty of space-saving backpacking gear. Please let me know if we can work something out. I'd be more than happy to meet up and grab a beer/coffee on me to get to know you first.
This subreddit seems so dead yet filled with requests for absolutely anything. There are hiring signs outside of many Atlanta area QTs (North Druid Hills @ Briarcliff for sure) as well as the LaVista/Cheshire-Bridge Pet Supplies Plus location. Go for it if you're looking for a job!
