The images aren't actually saved anywhere, but generated when you search for them. The vast majority are random pixel static, and you'd be highly unlikely to run into an image with even part of it making sense, let alone with the whole image showing a real person. This "archive" isn't actually useful, just a conceptual thing.

Imagine you had a camera that took pictures 640 pixels wide by 416 pixels tall. Not only is the camera low resolution, but the each pixel in the images it captures can only be one of 4,096 different colours (instead of the millions in proper cameras). Think childrens digital toy camera territory.

Well any possible picture you could take with that camera already exists in the archive. You could go back in time and take a selfie with a t-rex, and find a duplicate of your picture in the archive.

It contains every image that ever has been or could be created with this color palette in these dimensions, including portraits of every person who ever lived at every moment in their life, digitized versions of every work of art ever created, even those lost to history, as well as every work of art which ever could be created, and photographs of your own birth, wedding, and funeral. It contains 4096^266240 (~10^961755) unique images.
