Power out around Broad and Hermitage
This is your friendly reminder that when stoplights are out, your treat them like a four-way stop. I've been trying to teach this lesson with my horn but it isn't getting through.
I'm driving a 2001 Volvo wagon. Come at me bro.
Also, anyone know what happened? I never normally lose power.

According to Dominion's magical, free outage status tool to keep customers informed instead of discussing it like nosy people on Reddit, it was an equipment problem that affected 1,528 customers.
We just got power back at Broad and Allen as I'm typing this sentence.
That's a neat service. I wasn't kidding when I said I never lose power...in almost 5 years it's never been out for more than 15 seconds or so, so I didn't even know this existed.
Yep. Almost every power utility has a mapping service that shows you outages, how many customers (which can be 1 person or 5000+) are affected, what the current cause and status is, and the estimated repair.
I remember watching the FPL (Florida Power & Light) mapper during recovery after Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and slowly seeing entire sections pop online day after day.
Back to Richmond: about the same time yesterday, there were two other blips in the same area that were caused by separate issues, and could have been the catalyst or result of the main outage.
I do remember a few months ago, we lost power in the same area for about 2-3 hours in the late afternoon. The outage affected a good portion of The Fan, north of Broad, just past the Science Museum towards Boulevard.
Also, sorry for being snippy. I just tire of "anyone know what happened" posts when there are official, more accurate sources for information that doesn't involve the peanut gallery and wild speculation. :) At least you posted an informative, accurate title instead of "Does anyone know what's going on at ______?"
Man, it's a great time to be alive.
And no worries for the snip. I tossed that in as an afterthought and didn't think about how much I hate those things too. I had just gotten to the gym, which is only a mile away but still took me 20 minutes and I was cranky and wanted someone to blame.
ETA and besides, I didn't get peanut gallery and speculation! I got a helpful answer that will be informative and useful for years to come!
Heh, it actually caused me to finally make a "Before You Ask" Wiki page for this! :)
