The Strangers Tale
(Warning: I'm slightly spooky)
Hark now hurried passerby,
I pray you heed my tale.
For if you don’t, she shall succeed
and take them through the veil.
I see it clear upon your upon your face,
you’re blessed with purest child,
and if you love them but at all,
you’ll listen for a while.
She lived once too, so long ago,
with parents proud and right.
Yet all she knew was ripped away,
one calm and clear dark night.
She slept that eve in pleasant dreams,
as parents sat to talk.
When at the door there came a sound,
a faint and quiet knock.
Behind the door there stood a man,
with madness in his eyes.
With wicked smile and quick advance,
he lunged towards his prize.
Her dearest mother could not move,
to stop his crazed attack
and as the knife plunged through her heart,
her world was turned to black.
Her father fought as best he could,
yet could not match his might
and so he fell atop his wife
and left the earth that night.
The house was robbed and set ablaze,
with child still inside.
No one to hear her desperate pleas,
nor calm the tears she cried.
Her body turned to blackest ash,
though lighter than her heart.
For as a child alone and scared,
her soul would not depart.
She lingered on and would not rest,
nor close her eyes so swollen.
She floated through the world of man,
to take back what was stolen.
She comes at times both calm and clear,
as was the case that night.
And with her longing to live on,
your perfect life she’ll blight.
At their room they’ll come a knocking,
soft as falling rain
and if they open up their door,
she’ll drag them to her Plane.
Once there, there will be no return,
no hope of light maintaining
and in the darkness of her void,
she’ll take the years remaining.
There is one way she can be stopped,
of this you should be told.
She sends a servant to their lives
and has their words take hold.
The man who shattered her small life,
was not let off scot-free.
Her soul ensnared his broken mind,
he now belongs to she.
He tells her tale to those who’ll hear,
as she slithers to her goal
and if they listen to it all,
their child she’ll swallow whole.
So heed my warning I do pray,
as you grow far less beguiled.
Listen not, to rambling men,
should you have another child.
