Pantaloony.
This is a "poem" I thought of in the moment, when getting ready for work one morning. My cat decided to, as she does most mornings, get comfy on my pants just as I was about to put them on.
Squirrel is sleeping on my pantaloons
And I have to wear them not now, but soon.
My employer has a code for dress,
One pair of pants minimum, no less.
So calm and serene she lay upon
The uniform I must now put on.
She looks at me with a galled glance
“Can’t you wear some other pants?”
There are no others, I cannot you see,
For it’s been one week since I’ve done laundry.
Friends say it sounds like Dr. Seuss, and I'm totally ok with that. I think of things like this all day, pretty much every day. This is the first thing I've ever shared with anyone and it's gotten some pretty serious praise from people.
My feedback for others:
Sorry if I linked those wrong, can you link to a specific comment? Even if so, I'd rather link to the poem for visibility, but will edit if need be.
This is not a "joke poem" and though the content is whimsical I put as much effort into it as anything "serious" I might otherwise have come up with.
