The Institution
I sit in the corner of a dark room
No need to see because I can already assume
the walls are still decorated two to a room
with standard paintings of random-ass trees
that are selected perfectly meaningless and bland as can be
A trick to make it seem less divisive and more polite
The paint is cheaply plastered on in Institutional White
So when you look at it you immediately lose sight
of your goals and ambitions
A masterminds rendition
of a perfect hard working, no thinking product
At the entrance, thick, steel bars to keep us from escaping
The guards stand at Attention, their mouths all gaping
They watch every calorie burned and Subway sandwich eaten
And you should keep your head turned or you might be beaten
and then filed away in the shadows of a Dishonorable Discharge
As I leave I abruptly swivel around shouting "no!!!"
so loud that the guards blink,
and my heart sinks to the floor
I can barely catch the door
saving myself from being locked out evermore
Out of my one room bag of tricks
a prison cell of hell, Number 7026
So that i can later return to my cumbersome corner
and stare blankly at random-ass tree paintings,
fastened neatly on Institutional White walls
