Color Me (Addiction)
( - indicates a slight pause.)
The lone, grey hours-
Drifting through the late night, I
Abide in shadows of my path behind
Here, now from yesterday
Forever from the future stayed
Will I ever see the night?
Void of rain, a sunset sky?
.
Now here I- alone await the morning
The day to run into the ground
The things I see the light I've found
To face the night's lone hours once more
Forlorn and empty a void so steep
Not to sleep or abide in peace
But in Solemn watching see
Each night will now yet pass by me
For I am still and silent there
.
For me to stay is all that's here
For me to leave is nothing there
And I'll be lost into the night
The sunset skies allude my sight
My truest self, the better me
Will fade again, for I can see
The grey I am, on which I dwell
Which isn't me, an empty shell
.
I'll find my dawn, alone and weak
And by myself, a change to see.
For in the night, though I knew not
A part of my old self did stop
On the path laid out it could not be
So in the night it watched me leave
I lost, this night, what did me in
And found that you were there again
Now then come, apart to me
The light I seek- to color me. . .
