More Than A Man
I wish I was more than a man
With troubled dreams and fragile plans,
Who has to ask and wonder why,
Who has to know why life began.
I wish I had the sparrow's eye
To view the world while flying high
Above the chaos down below,
Where men must toil, live, and die.
I wish I could become and know
The joy within the prancing doe,
Who never deals with wrong or right
And never has a care or woe.
And in the stillness of the night,
I work my pen by raging light.
I ask these questions 'til I can
No longer keep my waking sight.
But in my dreams, my heart has ran
Just like the doe, and fly I can
Just like a bird with singing span.
In dreams, I'm more than just a man.
