Sentence

I know your breath.
It is the morning fog on my bedroom window that will soon begin
dripping slowly on the sill
as if another sunrise of mine grieves your absence.

I know your kiss.
It lingers on the lipstick laden tumbler I will soon fill,
bottom to brim,
as if its volume could ever hope to erase your chapters for more than a fleeting flickering of my story;
my sentence.

I know you.
You are the lone ember of a three a.m. cigarette, remaining;
as if it were my last inhalation of sustenance,
only to abandon me with lungs full of lust.

I don't know why.
But you are everywhere,
as if you never left me in the springtime.
