Convergent Winging - In which the author pines for wifey
I often find myself waiting
To be thrust into the sky,
To soar and skid into another city.
And as I wait I nap, or read, or eat and blow my nose,
Or let my mind wander
And the wandering often stops when it alights upon a face:
A pretty face I know is waiting too, at home.
Maybe she is napping or reading
Or working as I do
Most of the time. But today
I am aware that she is not at home. Across a continent
She works, and waits, for me
To veer out of my jet lane and intersect another,
To make a beeline for the coast,
To be talked down by controllers,
Safely.
Her arms are wide her smile bright
In my waiting wandering mind where her affections reverberate
Soundly. So I look up and forward to the moment when
I clutch and paw
My love, my home in those grounded arms
Back on Earth
I wait
