sleep
broken low lidded eyelids littered right up to the workshop doors.
i love love love you sleep,
i am caught more in your caress the further you flee from me,
the most honest kind of love.
i am fishing for you, my poor fluttered heart rolling like a
drumbeat flashing like flickering lightning Norse gods toss away from their anvils in disgust.
i cannot call you coy though, for even as many times as you beckon and wink your lips i find backwards steps.
twisting like pipes that think they are vines, winding like stairs who contain within them pocket universes,
grimacing because i open myself up like an expletive.
unrequited, the most honest form of love,
i wrote on letter covers in red ink as i ran ran ran away from you,
sleep.
