Argentinian despair.
I am selfish,
I recognize my lack of moderation;
I will not return to Argentina with haste.
I wonder what wisdom comes with silver hair,
and what tragic love it has experienced.
I liked my cigarettes in times of need;
I can fix that.
I need no judgements.
Have faith in my creed,
for look at you now.
I am the leaf eater,
no I am his conquerer;
bring the wrath of poseidon about me!
I fear only the mind.
Sails of lies will not take wind,
deceive me no more.
I know how to feel God,
and he shows me his face:
it is old.
Like a book entrenched with water stains,
the words do not weaken.
I’m proud my shoes are worn,
and my body scarred,
my arms bloodied,
and my turmoiled mind never a rest.
Maybe one day I’ll miss my flight,
and take the bus instead.
