Beautiful Storm
(This poem is based on how I felt as I took this picture http://imgur.com/6nIsAiF at about 10am after a wild party at an apartment in Dublin, Ireland)
We’d packed a week into this one night,
A speeding, screaming blur of a session.
The journey was almost over,
I could feel the train slowing down.
Amber Leaf, Dutch Gold, a rolled up note,
Pot Noodles and chocolate milk;
Debris we’d collected on the journey,
And I could feel the train slowing down.
The night was a blur of names and introductions;
Characters I’d loved but had already forgotten.
Were these our friends now? These familiar faces?
Or were we all just survivors of the same beautiful storm?
Sunlight streamed in, onto pale faces and tired eyes,
The outside world began to come into focus,
I could feel the train slowing down.
Slowing, slowing, stopped.
