The Skies Were Lying
You're only a day old
But haven't you noticed?
"Noticed?"
Never mind, forget it.
Keep gazing, love.
Don't take your eyes off that glow.
It's only summer, you know.
Azure rivers they'll flow,
And they'll wrap you so tight
In the warm blankets they sewed.
They seem to love you my darling.
They mocked the sea,
They gave you dreams to fly,
Higher than you'll ever be.
They haven't dropped you, yet.
"Yet?"
Never mind, forget it.
Keep gazing, love.
Autumn comes,
You seem just a month older than august
And a new gift you've been given
The dreamy dawn of fall.
You didn't stop gazing, did you?
Only look at the glow my love,
Although now a bit dark.
But let the young stars weave
More dreams on which you'll embark
Dreams far from stark.
But the stars haven't left, yet.
"Yet?"
Never mind, forget it.
Keep gazing, love.
Here's winter now-
Although colder and older
Than November
But don't fear.
They only lend icy cotton,
My dear.
But remember now,
Look at the glowing cloud,
Do not peek at any other,
For your curiosity is not allowed.
Lay playful in soft ice my dear,
The heavens haven't tore, yet.
"Yet?"
Never mind, forget it.
Keep gazing, love.
Cadence of drops knocks
On your doorstep.
It's April now,
Don't you know?
Showers shred only scars
Upon your eyes.
You look for those sapphire streams
You notice grey swamps instead.
The shimmers of dawn
Have left the side of your bed.
No snowy slopes seem to cuddle you now.
Looking up, my dear?
From so far below now?
There's no glow to find
The skies were lying, love.
But keep gazing.
