Codependancing

I've carried you up until now, you'll have to walk the rest.
I think it's time to take a bow, you thought you did your best.
I leaned on you and you leaned back, we both leaned upside down.
The problem was when we'd keep track, we'd leaned right to the ground.

Vibrations in my pocket, I'd hope to see your name.
And sometimes I just lost it while I played your waiting game.
I miss you asking favors, like you even had to ask...
There's beggars and there's takers, you took until the last.

I worked til twelve, stayed up past four, staring at a screen.
I should have put an effort fourth, to make sure you were seen.
Months had passed, loneliness grew. Surprised you remembered my face.
I quit my jobs just to be with you, only to be replaced.

I moved away, gave you your space. You texted "I miss you".
Eventually you filled my place. Another guy to rip through.
Now I'm fine walking alone, but I still watch every car.
A random text "throwing a bone", I'm glad that you're so far.
