any other blazer fans feeling emotionally invested in these finals?

I want the cavs to win so god damn bad. ever since that bogut elbow to freeland that started blazers warriors scuffle my hate for GS began. i think we were the better team that 2012-13 season. and these last two years of gsw fans flooding the rosegarden when the warriors come to town make me sick. i want nothing more than to see all those bay area bandwagon fans cry after kyrie and lebron beat them at oracle game 7. who's with me?!?!?!

I don't think I feel quite as strongly about it as you do, but I do hate seeing so many Warriors jerseys in the Rose Garden. For that reason alone, I find myself rooting for the Cavs.

FUCK DRAYMOND GREEN!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!!

harmala•

Yes, also that.

cmantisOP•

FUCK DRAYMOND GREEN FUCK DONALD TRUMP AND FUCK HILLARY CLINTON in that order

Justanotherpen•

But let's be clear here, mostly, fuck Draymond. Watching him cry to refs just.. it just.. stirs this hate in me man.. I hate the way his face is, and he doesn't even look athletic.. he's like.. kinda chub. It's just like that Chub kid in pick up who is hitting everything one day and you and him and everyone knows he's not that good but for whatever reason this one day he's destroying and he's just acting all cocky and full of himself like it's normal he's that good and no matter how many good things he does and shots he drains you know he's not that good and you just keep telling yourself he's gonna miss but he doesnt, and it only boosts his ego and you just want to scream in his face he's not good but he's killing you. That's how I feel about draymond.

Hillary is worse than Trump lol

I'm good with seeing the Warriors lose - I hate watching Draymond Green play basketball, I think Harrison Barnes is a garbage offensive player (thank you game 5 for furthering that notion) and the novelty of Curry/Thompson at this point has worn off.

Furthermore, you have a player in LeBron who came back to win his hometown (Akron is close enough) of Cleveland a championship. I can't hate on that - Cleveland deserves to finally win something. Say what you will about LeBron getting all the calls and all that stuff, but he just wants his hometown to be on top. The damn Bay Area has had 4 major championships over 2 sports in the last 6 years, with another team (the Sharks) making the finals in their respective sport - not to mention the 49ers were also in the championship in their respective sport in that time span.

I'm good on the Bay Area for a bit - I'm rooting for Cleveland.

Birdunit•

That's the thing though, Lebron hasn't got shit for calls this series lol

One of these is not like the others. Sharks fandom is torture. Always a contender, can never seal the deal, and your biggest rivals constantly rub their storied franchises in your face.

I would like the Cavs to win primarily because of how cocky Warriors fans have become these past few years. When the Blazers (who had exceeded all expectations this past season) played the Warrriors, Warriors "fans" were running their mouth about how great their team was compared to us and how easy it was for them to beat Portland.

12
beermile•

Compare that to Cleveland fans, who at least have some amount of humility probably because they never win anything.

Further, it was not that easy for them to beat Portland. The defending champion team that just set the single season wins record should not be trailing the majority of minutes against a team nobody thought was good enough to even be there.

mm825•

Don't feel too bad for Cleveland fans, their pro sports suck, but they do have Ohio State.

1
beermile•

I don't feel bad for them at all. The Blazers haven't won a championship in my lifetime and plus I'm an Oregon State fan.

If they come back and steal this one from the Warriors their fans will probably become just as annoying.

1
Portland28•

I hate Draymond Green, but I really hate the fans. They got so cocky so fast. Having LBJ win a game 7 on their court after all the cry baby stuff, AND being up 3-1...that would be insane to be in that arena.

Cleveland gets its first title since 1964 by beating the best team of all time after being down 3-1. Please let this happen.

6
Justanotherpen•

Except you know what's going to happen. They are all gonna cry it was rigged.

1
mm825•

I live in the Bay Area, so it's a big part of my life right now. But I'm rooting for the cavs, especially because cleveland is such a tortured franchise and Lebron is so excellent. I'm also looking forward to the Kyrie/Lillard tag team in the olympics.

Not really. Curry's goddamn amazing, and the rest don't bother me that much. Each team has a dick puncher, so that cancels out, and I don't have a problem with LBJ either. If it were the Lakers or the Rockets then sure, I'm in, fuck those guys, but otherwise I don't see why fans always have to hate other teams.

9
Euron_my_Aenys•

So you're actually saying that you think Draymond and Jones cancel out? As in, seriously? Wow

2
RipTatermen•

No, not seriously. The opposite of that; a joke, if you will. Draymond's an asshole. That is his job, and he's good at it. Same with Adams, and Leonard gave it a try this year. If you get bent out of shape over that, you're probably taking this shit too seriously.

3
przybylowicz•

I actually kind of want GSW to win just because I think it would really suck to have such an amazing season and then be unable to finish it properly. Plus, if you're going to lose in the playoffs, I think it's best to lose to the eventual champions. Though I really don't actually care that much.

8
gnr87•

I'm rooting for Cleveland, because I feel like LeBron is one of the most unfairly criticized players in NBA history, and winning a title in Cleveland over the best regular season team ever would hopefully shut up some of the people who have made it their life's mission to hate LeBron.

6

Completely agree. People are saying LeBron is soft for getting hit in the balls. Winning isn't gonna stop the criticism though, sadly. They'll just whine about Green and Bogut being out, saying that LeBron is just a lucky choker or some shit like that.

3
gnr87•

Same thing that people were saying about the Dubs last year (myself included). You can't argue with rings though, and not a single person in Cleveland would care if the Cavs win against a team a few men down.

1
bdubyageo•

Reasons I'm rooting for the cav's:

  • I live in Sacramento (originally from OR), and the amount of Warrior's bandwagon chumps here is ridiculous. You'd almost think that Sacramento as a whole has forgotten that the Kings are the actual hometown team.

  • Fuck Draymond Green. When he turned to Stotts and gave him the timeout motion (Game 4 me thinks?), that was the last straw for me.

  • Since Lebron's back in Ohio and playing for the cav's, I have a way harder time hating on him, and think it'd be pretty cool to watch Cleveland finally get a championship.

  • Bay area teams have just won way too many championships in general in recent years (Giant's fans in Sacramento are kinda obnoxious IMHO, but not nearly as bad as the dubs).

  • Curry's sneakers are uggo

MyDamnBlog•

I hate both teams, the warriors are my least favorite Western team, Cavs are my least favorite eastern team, so I think it's unfortunate anybody has to win. That being said, I think I would rather the cavs win in so everyone can shut up about the warriors and it would be really satisfying for the "best team ever" to lose the finals

maralieus•

I'm originally from Ohio so my investment is strong now. I don't hate gsw, but I really dislike draymond green at this point. Normally o would say Cleveland still has no chance to win 2 more in a row, but with game 6 in Cleveland they can get that one, then there is gonna be some serious pressure on the warriors at home if it gets that far. Tons of pressure and little momentum. Game 6 should be fun to watch!

4
_Quetzalcoatlus_•

I actually don't think the GS fans in the arena are necessarily bandwagon fans. They have ridiculous ticket prices, so fans travel up to Portland for games. Same thing happens to the Bucks when the Bulls come to town.

Still though...fuck the Warriors.

4
_Aaron_A_Aaronson_•

Its probably more transplants than travelers. I dont know for sure, but I do know that the distance between Oakland and Portland is 5x the distance between Milwaukee and Chicago. I just can't see a plane ticket + hotel + game ticket being cheaper in Portland than just a game ticket in Oakland. I also know that there are a FUCKTON of California transplants in Portland.

4
_Quetzalcoatlus_•

Yeah, that's a good point. It's probably mostly those damn California transplants.

Although I know many I have talked to at games are travellers. Portland is further than Milwaukee, but it's also more of a travel destination. People take trips up to Portland and coordinate it with Warriors games to see a less expensive game.

cmantisOP•

you have a point but where were they before?

1
_Quetzalcoatlus_•

Hmm....wearing Kobe gear at Blazers v. Lakers games!

lunarblossoms•

Haha, I thought I was the only one holding onto that Bogut incident.

4
Sprinklesss•

I'm definitely not on your level, but I can't stand Draymond Green and would love to see LeBron win another one so people will just shutup about him being "overrated." Plus I don't fully understand the LeBron hate and I've always liked him, so go Cavs I guess.

4
beermile•

Someone out there is going to hate a player like LeBron just because he is that good. I know he got a lot of hate for leaving Cleveland for Miami but a lot of that had to do with how strong that made Miami. People like to root for the underdog. LeBron hasn't always been the underdog. This time against GSW he and the Cavs are exactly that.

2
skelement•

I'm rooting for the warriors. I can't stand either fanbase; the game threads are literally the definition of cancer. They both act like they're entitled to everything. But, the warriors are just so fun to watch when everything is clicking, and Curry is just so likeable... I would hate to see them go out without a title after this historic season. We'll never hear the end of it.

4
Frognuts777•

Gotta win the title or the historic season is "eh." Ask the Mariners or Patriots about that.

2
ecopaint•

I've hated these Warriors since that incident as well. Bogut is always starting shit.

2
cakeyogi•

Go Cavs

Fuck Draymond

Curry scares me

So does LeBron

2
Ezdoesit1•

Haha I hate Bogut because of that incident too, looks like we Blazer fans don't forget very easily

2
JarekBloodDragon•

I don't want GS to lose, I just want lebron to win so that future idiots won't say stuff like "he went to so many finals and only has two rings!"

Who am I kidding they'll do it any way.

2
cmantisOP•

a title this year would certainly help reduce those idiots. every bleacher report post about the finals seems to mention lebron's finals series record. it's so painful to see

2
crylhy•

Nah, I just want to see good basketball. I can create so many reasons to root for and against each team, it's just arbitrary to pick one. But I want the cavs to win tonight, only so it can go to a game 7.

2
cmantisOP•

Now that it's going seven...?

1
DomHaynie•

Just watched highlights of game 6. I've never disliked the Warriors... But that LeBron block and shit talk made me feel fucking great.

Those last two fouls on Curry were questionable, but I'm glad he stuck up for himself and got ejected.

As a neutral opinion, that game did seem sort of rigged with some of those calls (only saw highlights of major plays).
