I know most of the guys. I don't want to judge but most of them are from upper middle class. I guess its easier for them.
For people from the lower classes the socially sanctioned procedure is to give away such children and young adults to the hijra community.
They then undergo castration and penectomy:
A common practice, however, begins with the individual being sequestered in isolation for some days during which he is fed on a diet of opium and milk to keep him in a permanent state of intoxication. They worship the Goddess Durga in the form of Bahucharamata. On a day declared auspicious by the Guru, the boy is laid down on a hard surface and a cord is tied tightly around his testicles to stop the flow of blood. Several eunuchs hold him down as a sharp knife severs the penis and testicles in one swift movement. A metal or wooden plug is inserted into the wound to stop full closure and leave an aperture for the passage of urine. Hot oil is poured over the area and herbs are placed on it to hasten the healing process. The second method is to tie a thin but strong nylon thread around the penis and scrotum separately after the person is under the influence of alcohol. He is kept under the influence of alcohol for three days. The thread is tightened at regular intervals and kept in place till the scrotum and penis slough off. It usually takes two to three days. The wound is sutured by a local doctor or left to heal by use of turmeric powder and herbs.

And then they are forced into begging and prostitution. And remain in a community that is both shunned and seen as auspicious.
Many temples have eunuch prostitutes. While the HAF (hindu american foundation) will have you believe that Hinduism is the most inclusive religion in the world on LGBT, this is how society actually treats them.
WTF?
Indian society keeps this all hidden quite successfully.
Yes. It is easier for an educated upper class person to come out of the closet because of his circles. Imagine a blue collar worker being gay :(
Now imagine about gays in rural areas.
I'm sort of a rural guy because I grew up in rural areas till the end of high school and my parents still live there. I know how different and difficult that was/is compared to the experiences of my gay friends who were born and brought up in metros.
These "young gay youths" coming out stories is more like asking a really expensive gift. Coming out stories of middle class or rural class are outright horrifying to say the least. Parents make their gay kids get raped by cousins to get "cured".
How did your family circle react when you told them you were gay?
So weird I actually recognised one of the people on this list.
I support LGBT rights but why some gays wear their sexuality on sleeves...makeup, nose ring etc..it creeps me out .
Why do straights push their sexuality in my face with their stupid dressing sense and their assumption that I'm straight? It grosses me out.
I don't want to assume any one 's sexuality.it is none of my business.
Oh sorry. I was talking about some straights who do that. And yeah, how gays dress is none of your business too
That's kinda hypocritical as LGBT always talks about society treating them differently. Whereas they themselves act different in a totally "in your face" way.

Sense of fashion, sense of identity, freedom and whim.
Sexuality is a very important part of life, which is unfortunately overlooked in our country and so it feels as if they're doing something 'uncommon' when it's very natural.
The comment about what to do with the jewellery made me burst out laughing. My mother still brings that up on occasion.
I'm 38 and I came out at 13 and that bloody jewellery still haunts me 😀

- Imagine all the secret things you never want your mother knowing you do, put them in a note, and then add the additional shock of finding out your daughter is a lesbian.
- My mum called, I smiled at the caller ID, picked up, and heard the words Do you have something you need to tell me? When she explained why she was asking, I screamed and threw my phone across the room.

- Her irrevocable support and the acceptance I have received from all the people around me have added immensely to my strength to fight this battlealthough I dont expect things to change drastically with my family.

It's ridiculous! Why are we bombarded with news and articles about perverts everywhere over the internet? There are better, more meaningful things that deserve our attention.
Perverts? They're just LGBT, which means they're attracted to NOT the opposite gender.
It's important because in this world right now, people can still DIE for being this way. Especially after Orlando.
Have some compassion dude.
Also, June is pride month.
You made a new reddit account just to post this? What a loser.
Just because you don't understand these people, don't call them perverts. They're people just like you and me, who's lives are made a lot more difficult because of our regressive laws and archaic attitudes. A little empathy wouldn't kill you mate.
Narrow headed dip shit
You guys just wanted to see ria(girl in middle pic), don't you?
Actually, no.
