I really like this piece, short and concise, yet still expressive. 

I love this, so simple and expressive, and with that title it is so much more powerful

I love that the title gives the poem its meaning, takes it from ambiguous to specific and meaningful. The line breaks give it a nice rhythm. 

I generally write all my poems like that.

It's about America's indifference to the Middle East crisis overseas.  We're forgetting where we came from: refugees fleeing political persecution in Europe.

so i assume this is about those leaving home to somewhere new and forgetting about where they came from? this poem perfectly made that clear, at least to me, in few words, which is an increidble feat. nice work.

Short and sweet, but not terribly descriptive. I like the way it sounds, but it doesn't sound much like refugees. Stretching roots to me sounds more passive than fleeing carnage, but that's just one interpretation.

I like it.

Great imagery.  Makes me want to spend more time with my son.  

The thing that I like so much is that the metaphor of the trees and saplings carries through every line.  That makes the image even more clear.  

Brief and concise. I love how much you did with so little. Able to create thought and feeling with 4 simple lines. Well done. 

How the saplings  
So newly sprung  
Stretch up their leaves  
And forget their roots.
