The Judge and the Jester

Feedback Received!

There are two beasts that linger deep,

Both pretty and ugly, their faces show.

While ones awake and the other asleep,

One works to bring the other down low.

The Lawmaker first, with shoulders wide.

His gaze judging all actions I take.

Although without his decisive stride,

Id freeze in place, no progress I'd make.

The Trickster second, all smiles and coy,

From him come my darkest secret deeds.

Regret he brings, guilt tears out of joy,

Yet risks he takes, and fulfills my needs.

Most battles are quick and choice is clear.

They fight within and engine my life,

Sight of their shadows, fills me with fear.

But I move on still, fueled by their strife.

One's book of laws, and massive tin scale.

His judgement, rules, are deeply needed.

Punish or absolve, be free or jail,

By ethic word, morals he seeded.

The other goes against rules imposed.

A dare they seem, freedom intrusions.

Sex, violence, pranks, a poem prosed,

All of them come thru his delusions.

Now I've hit a wall, and thick it seems,

With hardened grip, they pull each arm,

Talked a big game, to follow my dreams,

But reality is filled with harm.

To fall and denounce those rules I made,

Or keep them still, and deny my heart.

To be consumed or let my heart fade,

Either ending, leaves me torn apart.

To sit by rivers, in rainbow bliss.

Or sit alone, behind circuit walls,

The judge casts me into the abyss,

While the jester decks the party halls.

I might have to face the Blood Eagle,

But tonight the dove embraces me.
