Should the Group Stage of the Next Major Change?
After watching the past two majors, I've noticed something that kinda irks me. In CS:GO, we have this unique thing with maps unlike most other major sports, so why are we doing BO1s on random maps? It seems that a lot of who gets in the Quarter Finals depends on what maps get drawn first. Sure, you can say that it doesn't happen often, but honestly, Gambit wouldn't have gotten through without some help with their map pool.
I think that for the next major there needs to be a change. Instead of doing a BO1, do a BO2 instead and have it be more of a pool play style. 2-0 gets you 3 points, 1-1 gives 1 point to each, and no points are given for an absolute loss. If we truly want to be unique and have good teams in the bracket, we need to stop hurting our best teams with crummy maps. If you have any other suggestions, please reply because I'm willing to hear reasoning from both sides. This is just my take as a newcomer in the past six months. Also, I found it strange that the Major Final was only a BO3 and not a BO5.

SWISS SYSTEM is the solution for this
I like it honestly. You're grouped based on your performance and rank. Gets rid of the weak groups and groups of death. I think I would want to see a tournament try it out first before implementing it in a Major.
I thought the ESL One Cologne 2016 Qualifier used the Swiss System?
It did. But the swiss system should also be implemented for the major group stages, which they aren't.
this is great. esl please
Yeah except Swiss system has the problem where teams can lose on purpose to play worse teams.
