Hyundai Tucson 2012 dead, Hyundai motors america refuses refund.

After continued ongoing issues with my car, I finally dropped a negative review on Hyundai's Yelp page. Currently going through the BBB complaint process however that's unlikely to resolve any time soon as Hyundai is dragging their feet on the response.

On top of that, my car is still offline at the dealership while the pull out the recently completely rebuilt engine and try to patch all the oil leaks that have mysteriously appeared.

Here is my yelp review

Just thought I would post this for a warning that make sure you opt-out of the arbitration process within 90 days of purchase (http://warranty-arbitration.hyundaiUSA.com). Otherwise you waive all rights to take legal action against them and end up stuck with a death trap lemon.

Your post is really sparse on details... Did you buy it used? Is the warranty expired?

New bought new, standard 100,000, 10 year powertrain warranty still in place.

Doubtful a bad Yelp review is really going to cause the dealership any harm. If the dealership is not doing anything about, your problem, then you should complain to the main headquarters if it's a major dealer chain AND to Hyundai corporate.

Just don't act like an ass about it. You'll get better response by acting mature and reasonable about these things.

Not sure why you are so upset about my post. This post it to provide insight into my recent interaction with a warranty repair.

I wasn't upset in the slightest, I think you just misinterpreted my suggestions incorrectly.

My point is, if you react like a jerk to this situation, you tend to get the exact opposite of what you want. Many people still fail to understand this these days.

By posting my experience on Reddit? This has nothing to do with me getting what I want, that is a separate issue between me and Hyundai that has been ongoing for a while and will likely take many more months to reach a resolution.

If people don't publicise the issues they are having with companies, then how else do you think this is going to become known?

I would have loved to have found a post like this when I first had the problems 4 years ago. I'm certain I would have come to a faster, better resolution by know if I had. Information is power.

why was the engine rebuilt honestly iv only seen 1 tucson engine replacement at my dealer did you buy it new or used

New car. No explanation on why the engine blew from the dealership or Hyundai Motors when I asked, however based on the poor workmanship associated with the rebuild, I'm assuming it's related to the recent service done at the dealership.

If you still have the original repair order copy it should say why the engine was replaced the cause of failure should be on there and what service was recently done the one we did replace at our dealership was do to lack of maintenance by the customer ie lube sticker showed they'd gone a year with out an oil change how many miles are on your car if i may ask

"46686 BROKEN PISTON VERIFIED BAD NOISE FROM MOTOR. FOUND #3 PISTON BROKE AND PIECE CAME OUT OF CASE"

No mention of what service recently done on the WO, but we had our major 45k service exactly 4 weeks earlier at the same dealership.

"BETTER BETTER OIL CHANGE: REPLACE OIL W/CHEVRON 5W30. CONVENTIONAL AND FILTER, MOA FRICTION FIGHTER"

Sorry I meant there was no reason given for why the piston broke. Engine oil replaced regularly and was not low.

honestly from what limited info you've given it sounds like you just got a bad motor and it happens just sucks that it happened to you thats why hyundai has that awesome powertrain warranty shit i just replaced a sonata 132 recall motor with over 200k miles on it even thought it had passed the inspection 5 months ago just goes to show that hyundai goes above and beyond to help customers

The link says there is no arbitration

"Hyundai Motor America no longer offers Binding Arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism. As such, it is not necessary to opt out of this program. Hyundai Motor America continues to offer alternative dispute resolution through the BBB AUTO LINE Program. Please refer to your Owner’s Handbook & Warranty Information for further information on the BBB AUTO LINE Program. "

Also why did you not take the car to the dealer? Did Hyundai ask you to take the car to a local mechanic shop?

"check the local authorised repairer and their reputation because when something goes wrong, you have no choice but to take it there and if their anything like the repairers I've been forced to use so far"

That's interesting with the link, they must have changed their contracts some time since 2012!

the local authorised repairer refers to the Hyundai dealership. Hyundai will not authorise warranty repairs done anywhere else.

I did take the car to a local mechanic, but that was to check over the work from the Renton dealership.
