Reflection

I'll take critical and constructive feedback. I have tough skin, and I don't think much of it. It is like my addition of Common's "I Uded to Love H.E.R." I'd like to see how others read it. It is a work in progress.

Beautiful, smart, loving, dark…

Since I first tasted your sweetness, you left me sleepless.
Is there a God? Is there purpose?
Is life worthless?

Around friends I played it cool, pretended,
While you witnessed
You didn’t care about her,
didn't care I’d’ve left you for her
If she had taken me back.
You knew she wouldn't.

Before her, I never noticed.
You were always there,
Always down.

After a couple years of being close friends,
I knew there could be no end.
When we went to bed,
we went as one,
I won.

Reflection, my dear, By any other name,
You’d be the same:
Beautiful, smart, loving, dark...
