Who's the least likable protagonist of any book, movie, or TV show?

Ferris Beuller is really kind of a dick. He lies to and screws over his parents, his sister, and others who have done him no harm just for his own simple, selfish ideas of having a good time.

And we won't even get into the list of Albus Dumbledore's crimes against children...

But Ferris is incredibly likeable. That's his thing. He's a charismatic, selfish, dick who is a good friend because he's a dick.

Seth Rogan's character in the Green Hornet. I was pissed that the movie expected me to support such a douchebag in the end and his clearly superior sidekick STILL got shafted.

Mad Max as portrayed in Fury Road. Pretty much just grunts his way through the whole movie.

Alex DeLarge – A Clockwork Orange.

Not a lot of good things to say about that bloke.

For me, this is a tight race between Frodo and Ross Geller/Ted Mosby.

Harry Potter. Because absolutely nobody, when asked, ever says their favorite Harry Potter character is Harry Potter.

It's been years since I've read the story (any of its versions) but Turin Turambar from The Children Of Hurin came across as a headstrong, proud dick who more often than not was the victim of his own arrogance and stupidity, though Morgoth's curse and the circumstances of his upbringing go some way to explaining why and it was heavily inspired by existing legends.

That's not necessarily a bad thing as I found some of the characters in LOTR to be too morally black and white and I love the tragic darkness of the story.

Victor Kershaw in Pain & Gain. You actually kinda like the bad guys in the movie although it's far fetched from what actually happened.

Other than the characters who weren't meant to be liked (the morally grey anti-hero, etc), I personally found that Simba in the Lion King was just awful. Even before I realized that Scar is just a dark skinned, lion version of me, I still hoped Simba would die.

ER was really good at this with both Dr Weaver and Dr Romano. It took years for both of them to become "good guys", and really, Romano was an asshole even after the majority of the viewing public was on his side.

Dr. Thaddeus Pilgrim in Dead Man's Handle. A serious sick F**k.
