Would you rather have A.J. Green or Chad Johnson?

Both amazing Bengals WRs, and as far as I can tell similar stats if you compare the same time in their careers.

Chad Johnson is already falling into the answer for future "Who is the most underrated"and "Who is the most forgotten" player conversation. AJ might too.

Who would you rather have?

edit* Also I am curious if we think Green has had better QB play?

Chad. And I don't really have any good reason either. I just love Ocho Cinco.

Chad in this era too would be a fucking beast.

mthrfknRaiders•

His unsportsmanlike conduct penalties would be historic

PenisgangBroncos•

He always would fucking burn Champ Bailey too.

DeathlysoulsLions•

God I miss that man....both of them

AJ Green. Can't believe how underrated he still is

24
HereForTheJediSeahawks•

I'd say Chad in his prime because we have the benefit of hindsight on Ocho, but AJ is still playing, so until he's played as long as Chad or has retired, I really don't think you'll get a lot of people picking him over a future hall of famer.

mrspencerrecorBroncos•

Chad, any day. Loved the way he played. He was the Odell before Odell..but he backed it the fuck up. Plus no one had better end zone dances. You have to get into the endzone to have those dances.

I'm not the biggest OBJ fan, but if he, a consensus top-4 WR, doesn't back it up, I don't know who does.

2
themilkman42069Giants•

Odell totally backs it up. I take offense at that insinuation

mrspencerrecorBroncos•

Did he tonight? Curious.

7
RawhlTahhydePanthers•

Ok but he usually does.

OBJ has possibly the best start to his career in history and is a top 3 receiver in the league

If OBJ "doesn't back it up" then who does?

13
NotHannibalBurressFalcons•

is a top 3 receiver in the league

Ehhhhhh...I would definitely take Julio, AB, and AJ over him.

mrmagoo512Giants•

You should know better than anyone, having Demaryius Thomas, that your top WR doesn't always have a great game.

4
mrspencerrecorBroncos•

for sure, he drops a hell of a lot a balls. But he's a consistent 1,000 yard receiver( 4 consecutive years) ...and since on the subject.. Chad Johnson had 6 consecutive years of 1,000+ yards in a season(7 total)..not bad

-3
themilkman42069Giants•

No. Did Chad Johnson every week? Curious.

Did jerry fucking rice every game? Curious.

Come on dude, he's been historically great to start his career.

2
mrspencerrecorBroncos•

I'm not saying he's bad, I like the player, not the person.

1
DanBRZ49ers•

Is there anyone who wouldn't take AJ?

14
LABillsOPBills•

Chad Johnson talked a lot of shit. But also, Chad Johnson was really fucking good.

12
DanBRZ49ers•

AJ Green talks no shit, and is better.

4†
LABillsOPBills•

They are close enough that better is an opinion not a fact.

10
DanBRZ49ers•

Disagree here. Johnson had no one to take targets away from his his entire career and compiled those stats due to pure volume.

AJ Green, is Taller, Bigger, Stronger, and ran the same 40 time. He had to compete for targets with Sanu and Jones the past few years and still gets his stats.

lalit008Texans•

If Chad was playing during this era he would probably break the record for most excessive celebrations, but I also think he would dominate. The guy was one of the best route runners in the NFL, had an insane catch radius, wasn't scared of going down the middle, and even though I'm not completely sure about this he was a tank, he barely got hurt.

I'll take 85 every day of the week.

12
Statue_leftVikings•

AJ Green is probably better but Ocho Cinco is waaaay more entertaining

9
KurtanionNZRams•

Yeah as a GM I'm taking Green but as a fan? Oh boy it's close

2
lAMA_Bear_AMALions•

A.J. Green.

I prefer a humble great player over a loud mouthed attention drawing distraction. Same reason I have never liked T.O.

4
LABillsOPBills•

You may have not liked TO but who would you rather have on your team? TO, AJ Green, or Fitz?

If the answer is not TO, you don't like winning.

5
vaesauceCardinals•

Well to be honest, if those were the only options, you wouldn't go wrong with any.

At that point, it comes down to who your QB is.

TO is the most athletic one out of those 3 though, that's for sure.

2
LABillsOPBills•

Rice > Moss > TO > Everyone else

5
vaesauceCardinals•

No shit? But what does Rice and Moss have to do with anything? You gave that Lions fan 3 options between AJ Green, TO and Fitz lol.

Not choosing TO =/= Don't like winning.

Not sure where your logic is coming from but it's pretty wild. But with that being said, I'd personally pick Fitz (not just because he's a Cardinals)and Megatron, ... because I know what they can do what a shit QB.

3
leadCactusVikings•

Depends. If you were choosing one with the expectation that he'll play for you for years to come, it's Rice. If you want a guy who gives you the best chance to win when you're down by 6 late in the 4th, it's Moss. If you want a guy who's never gonna be happy with his QB, it's Owens.

2
heavenfromhellEagles•

If the answer is not TO, you don't like winning.

TO never won shit. He only tore teams apart.

0
lAMA_Bear_AMALions•

I'd take AJ or Fitz over TO. Hell I'd take AB over all three and he's ridiculous but not in the same manner.

Maybe I was spoiled by Calvin who was amazing and humble.

-2†
LABillsOPBills•

Thats the wrong choice. You take T.O. Randy Moss and Rice.... then everyone else.

2†
lAMA_Bear_AMALions•

The fuck? This started between Chad and Aj and ended up with all sorts of WRs.

My opinion is not wrong, your just drunk and /or an ass.

0†
ColdhandssCowboys•

AJ. I like bigger receivers.

2
HereForTheJediSeahawks•

This is why I'm so sad that there's no more Megatron in the league. I feel like big bodied receivers are a rarity nowadays.

1
lkarns6Seahawks•

Well that's because of the trend the LOB created with the big physical corners. So now the league is going with the smaller shifty guys to combat that. It's always a never ending cycle in the NFL of cat and mouse

2
the_gluttonBengals•

I think an underreported story is that Chad's antics indirectly caused Carson Palmer to want to leave the team. The attention and drama he brought to the locker room was great at bringing a national profile, but it also served to tear the team apart.

AJ Green was a reactionary pick in hindsight. He was the end of the locker room drama era in Cincinnati.

Don't you mean Chad Ochocinco?

1
TheBlackTempestHaarSteelers•

He changed it back to Johnson.

1
najib78Vikings•

I think Aj had better Qb play

1
madbengalsfan85Bengals•

I'd take AJ every time, Johnson's act gets old after awhile

1
HereForTheJediSeahawks•

Chad in his prime with Andy Dalton would be disgustingly good.

Not to knock Palmer, because I actually think he gets more shit than he deserves, but during some of Chad's best years, Palmer had some of his worst games.

1
ralry11Bengals•

It seemed like towards the end Palmer would almost refuse to throw it to Chad no matter how open he was.

1
HereForTheJediSeahawks•

Chad was openly talking about wanting to move on from the team at the time too though. I can understand someone being a bit put-off about that.

1
TheBlackTempestHaarSteelers•

Ochocinco. Strictly for his extracurriculars. Dude was funny as hell. There was this one time he was being evaluated and he was asked if he took anything before the game and he goes "Yeah, Viagra" in the most serious of voices he could do.
