HTC 10 vs Sony or Moto lines?

Which one should I get? The HTC is around £485 currently, is it worth it at that price? Are the new Sony/Moto lines worth it? Or should I get a different phone?

Why are you not considering the oneplus3?

Yeah sorry, I replied in a comment that I've been looking at that too, just heard a few things about its software being annoying to use and something about the OP4 not being too far off.

I knew OnePlus comes out every year and the oneplus3 is only been out for like four months. So there's at least another 8

Ok, cool the OP3 is around £350 (Similar to a moto z play), why would you suggest this phone over others?

Because it has the best specs and best bang for buck phone on the market

I got 7 hours SOT along with dash charging is great

I'm still considering the HTC 10

The Sony and HTC phones are really not as impressive as many of the other flagships released this year. The Motorola phone would be my top pick our of your list but there are better phones for the money. The ZTE axon 7 is an excellent phone with great battery life, a great screen and a good camera. This is my current daily driver and it has performed flawlessly

Hmm the ZTE Axon 7 looks good but it makes me question its price... why is it so cheap with those specs?

They do not advertise and they make less of a profit then other companies. The galaxy s7 costs around $250 to make. Alot of the other $550 that you pay for a phone like that is going towards marketing. The axon is also going to be Google daydream comparable which should help greatly with updates.

Hmm when I google it, it's compared to the OP3 a lot. The OP3 isn't too much more expensive, is it better? I'm thinking the ZTE might be a better choice as a lot of people complain about the OP3 UI and software.

I had to make a choice between the oneplus 3 and the axon 7. I chose the axon due to the better screen, better speakers and better battery life. The oneplus 3 will have more developer support of you plan on rooting it and it also has a slightly better camera for night shots. The only complaint in the ui that I have is the way the notification are presented on the lock screen but I feel like this will be addressed in a future update.

Motorola is owned by Lenovo so their devices are no longer worth purchasing if you want something to receive proper support, if you use it (Moto Z whichever one you pick)s is and never update I'm sure it'd be a fine phone.

Sony hasn't really changed anything but the design, basically stagnant.

So what would you choose for around £400?

Probably a OnePlus 3, I currently use an HTC 10, with my original choice being the G5. I decided against it because build quality issues and worrying over the locking mechanism breaking. I didn't go Samsung because I've used an S3 and Note 3 for the past few years and am tired of the Samsung lag, even with custom ROMs I'll ve missing out on features or improved battery that'll be as optimized for those devices. Also didn't go Note 7, or V20/10, 6p because I wanted to go back to a bit smaller device.

Ah you have a HTC 10, it's not that much more expensive than the OP3 so is the extra money worth it for the reliabilty?

The key selling points for me were audio quality and camera performance. They are important enough to me that I chose it over the OnePlus 3, if you're not as concerned with having amazing audio or one of the better cameras than definitely go for the OnePlus 3. The 10 isn't terrible in any category and is one of the most well rounded devices released. On the flip side I think the OnePlus 3 would last a bit longer with unofficial software since it just has such a huge community, there's going to be somebody developing for it. I definitely think as for official support OnePlus is weak with customer service and software after they're done with the device as their primary flagship (look at the 2). BUT, like I said, unofficial software? It's still kicking if you want the newest stuff.

If I had a choice now I'd still go with the 10, if my phone broke and I had to buy another device I'd go for the OP3 to save a few bucks.

Moto Z is my pick due to the fantastic software enhancements. Moto Display and Moto Actions are really great. If you get hold of a student discount code you can get the Z for £424 (15% off).

Oneplus 3 is definitely best bang for buck though, and nothing else really compares in that department in terms of more mainstream devices. I'm ok paying a premium for the Z since it fits my needs but yours may differ.

Looks like the Nougat update for Moto Z is coming soon as well, so they're only annoyingly slow with security patches, which is a big no no for many here so be aware of that.

If you want your phone to last for years get a top spec device like Oneplus 3, HTC 10, or Moto Z (although their battery performance will not last years). If you value battery life get a Moto Z Play, which still has good performance outside of gaming.

One of the main reasons I was looking at the HTC was because I love listening to music on my phone and have heard it's one of the better phones for audio currently.

I'm not sure that I'll use Moto Mods which is one thing putting me off of Moto phone lines.

Audio output is powerful on the Moto Z phones for headphones and speaker (see http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Moto-Z-Droid-and-Moto-Z-Force-Droid-Review_id4232/page/3). Of course, the audio quality might be slightly lower. Must say the USB-C to 3.5 adapter would be annoying for someone like you so Moto Z might be off the cards.

No I used one when using the iPhone and it wasn't really too noticeable. Is the Moto Z Play decent?
