[Spoiler] Pandoras Star - Question about the Dark Fortress

Just listening to Pandoras Star audio book (read the actual book years ago). Dudley and a colleague were just in the Dark Fortress structure near the Dyson star. Communications back to the Second Chance are cut.

But Dudley and colleague seem to continue getting transmissions are aren't aware that the comm link to the ship is gone. Is something alien impersonating the ship with them? I was cooking at the time so I may have misheard, but it seems an important plot point to clear up.

I think there is a starflyer agent on board the ship that interferes with the transmissions to send them false Info. I read the book over a year ago though so I could be wrong, but im pretty sure that's it

I always believed it was Anna Kime who continued the communication and told Dudley to keep exploring, using Oscar's voice.

I think that doesn't come out until the end of Judas though? I could be wrong, it's been a few years for me as well.

it isn't explained but an assumption is made that the starflyer agent (anna) either looped oscars previous comms to keep them going or something similar. oscar tells dudley that they lost comms relatively quickly and the chance of a fault on the links was not possible so the starflyer agent must've interferred with the links to cut them off but keep transmitting data to them to make them think they were still connected back to 2nd chance
