okay I just reread your poem and I think I kind of get where the donkey and porridge thing comes into play. At first it was kind of out of the blue, but then I realized that you have the grain line and I connected it there.

I like this. As a procrastinator, I can totally feel this. And also being indecisive as fuck, I can relate to having difficulty choosing between one thing or the other. I like that instead of the cliche "drip" & "drop" pair you got "drip" and "outcrop". I don't know why, but I want to match your second stanza to "hesitation" and stanzas four and five with "distraction". It's just the kind of feeling I get like I should pair those together.

I don't know if looking at [this](https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/6ewgt/reddit_markdown_primer_or_how_do_you_do_all_that/?client=safari) might help :/

Yes, that was exactly what I was going for - hoped it showed the difficulty in making simple decisions, the author's reduction to state of a dumb beast, and a stanza that is random and off-topic to confirm the final distraction and broken focus.

Maybe that didn't all come across though... thanks for your input.

Is the donkey a reference to [Buridan's ass](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buridan%27s_ass)? Maybe you could develop that a bit more.

I like how the imagery of the "warm sea" and "tangential waves" made me feel as if I were there

I like the use of imagery in the warm sea and tangential waves. I felt as if I were there

focus

is a fleeting drip;
a salt outcrop, washed
by a warm sea

thoughtful grains
flake away

dissolving

into tangential waves
that tickle at attention’s shores

just a scratch away from
hesitation

a pause away from
distraction

a donkey with
two bowls of porridge

unable to
choose

Ideally want this justified to the right, but don't know how to do in reddit.
