Doug Wilson review!
Last night tried reviewing Pavel Bure and you guys didn't beat me down enough to stop me so now it's my favorite defenseman's turn. That would be Doug Wilson. Let's get to it.
Pairing: Rob Blake - Doug Wilson (Full Team)
Synergies: B, 1T, TW
Stats: 271 gp 95+163=246, 49 PIM, +258
SKATING 9.5/10
I have an insanely fast team, which means it's a bit hard to get a 10 (I'd say 2 or 3 get that honor), but that doesn't mean if you are below that you're any bad, you're still in the most elite in the game. Wilson is no doubt the fastest defenseman I've tried this year. Thanks to that speed I kinda get carried away with it and notice myself playing offense with him which is not necessarily bad seeing how much he scores for me and he can always catch the baddies if they're on an odd-man rush. Agility helps a lot in the offensive zone as he can just swirl around and pass the puck to someone who's open.
SHOOTING 10/10
All of his goals in 4 games! I expected him to have an amazing slap shot, which he does, but what really surprised me was how good his wrister is and how far away it's effective. If Rob Blake can get the puck and pass it to Wilson on his right he can slap that sucker in from the point like it's nobody's business, I don't think anyone else as high of a shooting percentage on my team as he has. Produces points and goals like a forward.
HANDS 9/10
His hands are very good in just holding the puck and not letting anyone touch it, dekes are somewhat slower than the best of the best but very doable and doesn't stop you from deking the opposition and getting those sweet sweet breakaways. Passing is at an elite level tho, he never fails a simple pass and can do the hard one's without a sweat. With his agility it's easy to find someone who's open and get them the puck.
PHYSICAL 8/10
I was very pleased with his physical aspect of the game. He's a decently big guy but I wondered since he's such an juggernaut offensively how he would hold up here. At 6'1 (185 cm) and 190 lbs (86 kg) he's a decently big guy in NHL standards but his stats lie a bit. His body checking at 92 (Chara is at 93) he doesn't really hit like him. His thing is if he has any speed behind him, he can nudge the puck off and steal it, only have gotten a few of those massive hits but they are doable atleast.
DEFENSIVE 10/10
Unbelievable. Steals the puck, pressures the opposition, blocks shots and cross creases he does it all. Very good discipline, one of the only guys I dare to stick lift with. Turn overs are his thing tho, steal the puck and just take off with those skates of his, it's unreal.
