Penitent
I've posted this before but have made some changes to it since and wanted to get more feedback on it.
You cradle me
In the cathedral of your
vaulted baroque hands,
like an injured bird;
Silently disappointed with my wings.
Broken so completely yet again,
Again, again and once again.
Now I squawking caw
And listen to the echoes bouncing off
The filling space with sound
and sound with space
Between us filled by silence.
I test my self on ceilinged floors;
But never leave. Protected,
Trapped, encased by glowing white
Pentelic marble - how pale it looks.
I watch its colours change.
In our walls I see a beauty;
We must eke it out.
Doors open, wind blows in but
I cannot leave or stay.
Wind rises more
As I lie in your hands
And hope you will be gentle
Until I have recovered.
