Hellspawn (Part 5)
I will call this Hellspawn from now on, I feel I have told enough of the story already to give it a title.
Also if you guys could do a little bit of advertising for my story I would appreciate it :) It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy knowing I am entertaining others.
Original prompt, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
PART 5
“What are we going to do?” I asked, I could feel my pulse gradually increase with each passing second, these monsters had no mercy and even liked to play with their food.
“We can’t go back” Patrick said while keeping his gaze fixed on the car wreckages ahead, I looked over patricks side to check the drop, there was no chance of going that way.
“Why not? We’ve done it before” I looked at him with curiosity, but this time something was off with him. He seemed more on edge than before.
“Julie… you know I love you don’t you?”
“I… er… yes of course I do, I love you too” I looked at him now with confusion, he spoke as if these may very well be his last words.
“If we don’t survive this I’m sorry, I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you from this. You are my priority but sometimes I feel like my best isn’t enough, if they catch you, if that thing catches you I could never forgive myself” I could see tears forming in his eyes, his grip on the wheel tightened once again.
“Patrick? Why are you talking like that? Let’s just head back and find another road ok?” I was getting scared, he usually calmed me down in situations like this but now he was making me scared.
“There is no other roads, besides… there is one of them back there”
He’s right you know
I looked back but couldn’t see a thing, just hanging bodies dripping fresh blood onto the roads and leaves below. The roads had never relented in showing us how horrific this all was, the blood never ceased it was always there as if they were painting a road of torment for us.
You’ll be mine soon… Julie
I jumped a little. “He’s speaking to you again isn’t he?” I nodded to Patrick, that monster had been speaking to me for the whole journey. As the hours ticked by he seemed to be growing restless, he kept telling me he was saving his stomach for me.
You’re more delicious on an empty stomach
“Once we get to the retreat we’ll figure this out, we’ll figure out what to do and we’ll figure out how to get that thing out of your head” He looked at me sympathetically, had I gone insane yet or was I quite not there yet? “If we get there” He put big emphasis on the if “This is a trap, and they’re here” he looked past me and I looked too. There was several of them clambering up and down the trees heading our way, my heart started racing.
I noticed one on top of the small mud cliff, it had climbed up the other side and began eating a live rabbit. All it did was stare and watch us as it ate the rabbit. Were they playing with us? “Patrick! Do something! We have to go! Now!” just as I said now Patrick put the car into reverse, drove back a few meters and pulled on the handbrake, he put the car back into 1st and pushed on the accelerate as he released the handbrake. The car revved forward with a jolt and he put the car into 2nd gear giving it a few seconds to pick up speed before it slammed into the car wreckage, it managed to slide half way off the cliff but not enough to let us pass, he put the car into reverse once again and repeated the process. The car slammed into the wreckage once again sending it careening off the cliff edge just as the monsters had caught up to us, one of them landed on the car.
Stop running! Give me your flesh I ache for it! Feed me! Feed me!
I tried to ignore the pleas of the monsters will to eat me as we had bigger problems, we had managed to get away from them but there was one still on the roof. It started clambering down the bonnet of the car and turned its head to Patrick, he gasped in horror and slammed on the brakes sending the monster flying over the cliff edge on a sharp corner. We sat there for a few more seconds as Patrick panted heavily and was visibly sweating. “Patrick? What’s the matter?”
“It spoke to me… it… it…” I understood, it did the same to him as the other did to me. I took him in my arms.
“That’s ok, I understand but we really need to leave ok?” I looked behind me, the rest of them were gaining on us and would be ripping us apart in a few seconds. Patrick nodded, he struggled to get the car moving again but did so before the other monsters could catch us. After a few miles we stopped and switched seats, Patrick vomited uncontrollably for the next few miles after that but the best I could do in my position was give him consoling words and rub his back. “He showed you too huh?” I asked him, his head was hanging out the window prepared for any more accidents.
“Yes” Patrick said nodding his head “It showed me… torture, all those humans… was that… was that real?” He looked me in the eyes with great sadness.
“I don’t know” Something told me it was real, all those human souls being tortured in a sea of blood.
Mark my words it is real and you are soon to join them, although I think for you I will make your trip to hell extra special
I gulped. It was best not to let Patrick know every time that thing spoke to me, his pride wouldn’t be able to take it and he would never forgive himself for putting me in that situation. “How long now?” I asked Patrick.
“Another 30 minutes, if the roads are kind” he told me as he looked up at hanging bodies, they were becoming fewer and fewer now but some still remained as if to warn us.
I will be out for most of today so don't expect a part 6 until tomorrow, have a good day guys!
