MS Parise 90 Review

Other

Games played were in Div. 2 and Div. 1 against equally skilled opponents with semi-stacked squads (Richards high without base players).

He played on my 3rd Line as a RW with HC Horcoff (LW) and ASG Kesler (C).

Active Synergies are: Cycle Game, Team Wheel, Team Shot Block, It’s a Trap

Stats: 14 GP; 0 G, 5 A, 5 Pts, 2 PIM, +12

His synergy: 2 Cycle Game, 1 Relentless Forecheck (both activated)

Skating: 7.5/10 Spoiler alert: I hated this guy because of his speed. I’ll try not to be too harsh and as objective as I can here but it’s gonna be tough. For a guy with 92 acc. and speed, who has a synergy who boosts acceleration and has a smaller-average frame (5’11’’ 197 lbs), this is unacceptable. Tell me if I’m wrong, please, and I will delete this whole section but it really didn’t cut it for me. It felt like I had a base gold player with 85/85 as acc. and speed. Felt really slow every time I had the puck with him. To his credit he wasn’t so easy to knock off the puck.

Defense: 8/10 Good poke check, can’t say nothing wrong either with his positioning. He did me a solid a couple times blocking some shots even though he doesn’t have an exceptionally great rating (86). He took only 1 penalty and, even though my friends would argue that with my style of play it’s a lot, it’s very good (93 discipline).

Passing and Hands: 9/10 What Parise lacks in speed, he makes up for hands and passing. He has some good ability and it’s a good thing because I had to become the magic man to be able to carry the puck inside the offensive zone. He makes good passes through traffic and has deking abilities to last you a week.

Shooting: 7/10 How can a guy with an average of 90 in his shooting category have such an average shot? I don’t get it. 0 goals in 14 games. I tried… and I failed. I may have been the problem here so tell me if you have had a different experience!

Senses: 8.5/10 I (typically) like guys with high awareness in both zones like him (92 off., 90 def.) and he falls in that category. He was well positioned enough to make me want to pass the puck to him but…

Conclusion: …but it rarely worked out. I encourage you, especially if you’ve gotten this far, to tell me if I’m wrong. I even saw someone post advice on his team and he was playing him on his first line. I just couldn’t get him going at all. He seemed so slow every time I got the puck. In a matter of moments, I got bombarded with poke checks and I had to deke 3 times to advance a zone. I personally preferred both of his teammates (especially HC Horcoff (Review and ASG Kesler (Review). Got him for 70k and would not recommend.

As always, if you have questions or comments, especially if you disagree, please leave them in the comment section. Cheers!
