Lore Power Levels Day Five: The Mortal Tier

Holy crap we are finally here. It has be so much fun entertaining you guys with these lists, and I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout the duration of these posts. But all things must come to an end, and this is the end of this edition of the series. Let’s not dwell on that, here comes the salt ladies and gents!
Tiers: God, Transcended, Harbinger, Magus, Mortal
One last reminder that this is off the current lore. I got most if not all of my information from the LoL Universe area of the website. No theories, you get the idea.
However I would like to express something very clearly. I am unbiased in my ranking of these champions. Despite any offhanded jokes I may make, I placed the champions into tiers before I wrote any jokes. If I had my way Cho’Gath would be at the top, and Shaco would be in hell. But I have remained unbiased.
I would also like to express that just because a champion is in a tier above another, does not mean they would be guaranteed to win in a fight. Two tiers does, but some Mortal champions can definitely take on a few of the Magus champions for example.

Mortal Tier: This is the tier for champions that have a massive limitation to their power, or are just little more than skilled humans or tech users. If a champion’s power requires them to hold a specific weapon or piece of technology, they are here. If they are a modified human without the sheer capability of Magus tier, they are here. If most of their power comes from riding an animal, they are here. This tier has five subcategories: Gearheads, Inhumans, Warriors, Weaponizers, Riders.
Champions in Mortal Tier: 49
Champions: Corki, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Rumble, Ziggs, Dr. Mundo, Fizz, Urgot, Nidalee, Wukong, Akali, Darius, Draven, Fiora, Gangplank, Garen, Gragas, Irelia, Jarvan IV, Jhin, Jinx, Katarina, Master Yi, Olaf, Quinn, Riven, Singed, Sion, Sivir, Talon, Teemo, Tristana, Twitch, Vayne, Xin Zhao, Yasuo, Ashe, Caitlyn, Graves, Jayce, Lucian, Miss Fortune, Poppy, Ezreal, Sona, Vi, Sejuani, Kled, Nunu

Gearheads: These are champions who either rely entirely on technology that they built or are given. Remove this technology, and they are pretty useless. The Yordles in this subcategory could each have a case made for being the weakest champion.
Champions: Corki, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Rumble, Ziggs
Corki: The Daring Bombadier relies entirely on his ROFL copter. Without it, he is just a yordle with an impressive moustache. With it he has an assortment of bombs and bullets that he will be happy to send your way. Mess with this Yordle, and you could have one hell of a Package blow up in your face.
Ekko: The Boy Who Shattered Time owes his power and title to the Zero Drive attached to his belt. The Z-Drive can send Ekko a few seconds back in time, channel energy into the exploding Timewinder, and use an alternate version of himself in a fight. But on his own, Ekko is just a kid. However, like Tank Ekko in season 6, he can be a terror in the right situations.
Heimerdinger: The Revered Inventor is one of the most intelligent biengs in Runeterra. But he doesn’t have much once you take away his arsenal. While a master of technology, if there is none around he is powerless. Honestly the memes are stronger than Heim himself. Who am I kidding RAISE YOUR DONGERS!!
Rumble: The Mechanized Menace is little more than the runt of the litter sans Tristy. His mech has several impressive weapons, such as electric harpoons, flamethrowers, and incindiary rockets. The key words there are “His mech” as Rumble is weak on his own, even for a Yordle. He might be obssessed with Tristana to the point of naming a mech after her, but Rumble and Tristy are a dangerous combination.
Ziggs: The Hexplosives Expert might be fearsome provided there is a supply of things that go boom, but without his bombs Ziggs is not that threatening. Props to him for making a mini-nuke in his Mega Inferno Bomb and a deployable minefield. But Ziggs’s weaknesses kinda blow up in his face in these tiers.

Inhumans: These champions are inhuman in some way, but do not exhibit the sheer power of the Beast category champions, so get put here by default.
Champions: Dr. Mundo, Fizz, Nidalee, Sion, Urgot, Wukong
Dr. Mundo: The Madman of Zaun is clearly not a normal human anymore. But while he is a freak of nature, he doesn’t have that much capability against a competent or trained opponent, as seen in his fight with Ekko. All you need to cure Mundo’s ailment is a good axe to the brain. But the good Doctor might just put a cleaver in yours first.
Fizz: The Tidal Trickster comes off as more powerful than he really is. He may have acrobatic skill and fighting prowess, but is really just hitting people with a stone trident. His most infamous “ability” is nothing more than him throwing bait at someone so to lure a shark. Deadly as a great white with the playfulness of a dolphin, this is one fish out of water who is always ready to fight.
Nidalee: The Bestial Huntress somehow went from human to shapeshifter while stranded in the jungle for years. She can turn into a cougar (insert mating season joke here) and utilize all of the physical properties of a great cat. Unfortunately that is not enough to merit a higher tier. If you feel eyes on you in the jungle, look out for that spear out of nowhere.
Sion: The Undead Juggernaut might be a hulking figure by human standards, but is rather small compared to the giants in higher tiers in terms of strength and size. His powers are limited to his physical stature and combat experience, with one exception. His “ressurection” ability is just the blood mages of Noxus and Jericho Swain reviving an icon for his usefulness. His shield could be argued as a powerful ability, as he charges his soul to create a short ranged energy wave, but it is not enough to move him up. Plus the new lore provides him no feats with which to climb the tiers. This is one train you don’t want to be in front of, WOO WOO!
Urgot: The Headsman’s Pride cannot even really be considered human anymore. He has been ressurected so many times that his body is falling apart. His Hyper Kinetic Position Reverser and launchable blades might be deadly, but are not enough to get this ugly duckling to the Magus Tier. Either way, Urgot is still a mechanized undead killing machine with the weapons to match his bloodlust.
Wukong: The Monkey King sadly has little going for him. Despite the ability to create a temporary clone and turn invisible while doing so, the rest of Wukong’s abilities are lacking. Adept in Wuju, with a staff strong enough to smash stone, Wukong is still a fearsome warrior. However most Magus champions would school him like the Cincinnati Zoo did Harambe.

Warriors: These are beings of great skill as warriors, but are just normal humans otherwise, meaning they do not belong in the Magus tier.
Champions: Akali, Darius, Draven, Fiora, Gangplank, Garen, Gragas, Irelia, Jarvan IV, Jhin, Jinx, Katarina, Master Yi, Miss Fortune, Olaf, Quinn, Riven, Sivir, Talon, Teemo, Tristana, Twitch, Vayne, Xin Zhao, Yasuo
Akali: The Fist of Shadow is a kunoichi of incredibly skill. Akali can leap from enemy to enemy in the blink of an eye, disappear in a cloud of smoke, and cut down waves with her twin kama. However unlike her Kinkou companions Kennen and Shen, she doesn’t possess any magical abilities. Always buy a control ward when facing this green clad ninja.
Darius: The Hand of Noxus is a murdous psycopath with a presence that inspires troops around him. With one sweep of his massive axe he can take a man’s head, or cut him in half. While he is a master with his axe, his status as a general does not translate to a higher tier. As far as Darius is concerned, you can kiss his axe.
Draven: The Glorious Executioner is a flamboyant and narcissistic individual, but is a crackshot with his axes. Considering his axes are around five times the size of a normal throwing axe, this is quite the feat. When trying to escape from Noxian prison, watch for the axes, or it will be the Draaaaven show’s next big highlight.
Fiora: The Grand Duelist is a master of one on one combat, felling numerous opponents in the name of restoring her family’s honor. She is a master of vital points on a person’s body, able to target and strike them with incredible precision and accuracy. Don’t underestimate her, it might be the last thing you do.
Gangplank: The Saltwater Scourge is the unoffical pirate king of Bilgewater. Even after having his ship sunk and his arm damaged to the point of disfigurement, Gangplank is still a fearsome warrior. A mastery of sword and pistol combat, Gangplank rules Bilgewater with an iron fist...literally. With his explosive temper and weaponry, this pirate will raid the high seas as he pleases, oranges in hand.
Garen: The Might of Demacia is a massive hulk of a man with a sword to match. There isn’t much to this guy other than that. He can scream really loud, and channel the might of Demacia into some kind of spirit sword. I must….resist….the urge…..DEMACIA!!! Dammit.
Gragas: The Rabble Rouser is the most notorious drunk in Runeterra. What else can I say except he is an overweight guy who throws barrels. He can jump surprisingly far given his weight. This is one drunk you would not want to get into a bar fight with, he would be scarier than the bouncer..
Irelia: The Will of the Blades was a master with a sword before Soraka merged her soul with her blade. She can throw blades, hop from enemy to enemy, and use her blades to cut down waves of enemies. As a captain in the Ionian military, Irelia is both inspiring and intimidating, as she is sharp of wit and sharper of blade.
Jarvan IV: The Exemplar of Demacia is a fearsome warrior with his impossible lance and his physical ability. He helped Shyvana kill the dragon that killed her father. While he may not have much else, he is a fearsome warrior.
Jhin: The Virtuosois a completely insane serial killer with an unhealthy obssession with the number four. He has a sniper rifle in his shoulder, grenades, exploding flowers, and a massive pistol. Jhin is an artist, and in his opinion bringing death is the most beautiful way to express his artistic mastery. (shoutout to Riot Gypsylord)
Jinx: The Loose Cannon is a pale, blue haired, psychotic terrorist. She has a rocket launcher, a minigun, and a zap pistol. She also has the infamous Super Mega Death Rocket, which blows up whatever it hits. If something blows up in Piltover, expect to see Jinx with a smile on her face and a gun in hand.
Katarina: The Sinister Blade is a master with...well...blades. She can throw and wield them with uncanny levels of skill, and carries more than you would think possible. She can also teleport, in a way, short distances, but it is unclear how. This is one redhead who would gut you as soon as look at you.
Master Yi: The Wuju Bladesman is among the fastest beings in Runeterra. He can dash between multiple enemies in the blink of an eye, and is the last great practitioner of the Wuju arts. Armed with a massive blade and a modified goggle headset for increased awareness, this is a warrior to be reckoned with.
Miss Fortune: The Bounty Hunter has a taste for vengeance, a deadly pair of pistols, and probably some back problems. She is a crack shot with a firearm, seen in the deadly way she wields her twin pistols, Shock and Awe. While not a powerhouse by any means in the grand scope, Captain Sarah Fortune will enchant you with her looks, and waste you with her bullets.
Olaf: The Berserker just wants to die in battle. It would help if he wasn’t a monster of a man, roaring into battle with reckless abandon swinging axes in every direction. Like Mr. Meeseeks, Olaf just wants to die as soon as possible, except in a glorious battle where his name will be spoken of and revered for the days to come.
Quinn: Demacia’s Wings is one of the best scouts in Valoran. With a giant falcon that is big enough to carry her around, a crossbow that she can shoot with deadly accuracy, and acrobatic ability, she is quite the warrior as well. Quinn can be relied upon to get the job done with her skills and the gargantuan bird that follows her around.
Riven: The Exile is a former Noxian soldier who left in shame after her entire regiment was killed by a toxic bomb fired by noxic. While most of her power is in her enourmous runic sword, she is otherwise still a capable warrior. You can always count on Riven to jump into the fights and then blame her teammates for her own mistakes.
Sivir: The Battle Mistress is a highly capable mercenary who will do most anyhting for the right price. Her blade is rumored to once have belonged to an Ascended, and she is the last descendant of Azir. She can straight up Captain America that blade, bouncing it everywhere. You need a job done? Sivir is the person to call if you have deep enough pockets.
Talon: The Blade’s Shadow is one of the more deadly assassin’s in all Valoran. He carries an absurd amount of blades on his person, can appear to completely disappear, and is a parkour master. Find yourself in on his list, and you might end up tasting Noxian steel.
Teemo: The Swift Scout walks the line between chipper and serial killer. He carries explosive mushrooms, toxic darts, darts with blinding ability, and is a master of stealth. While he may be Satan on the Rift and in our hearts, he is not that powerful in the world of Runeterra.
Tristana: The Yordle Gunner is an explosive warrior on the battlefield, surprisingly fast and strong for her size. She uses her gun/cannon to do most of her normal combat tricks, but she is still adept without it. This is one Yordle I still would not fight.
Twitch: The Plague Rat is a mutated vermin who roams the sewers of Zaun. He is adept in creating poisons and toxins, which he then applies to his signature crossbow bolts. He can turn invisible for a time due to his mutation, silently roaming unseen all over the crime infested undercity. Despite this, the head of League’s Rat Pack does not have the sheer power to make a higher tier.
Vayne: The Night Hunter is determined to rid Runeterra of all supernatural or monstrous entities she considers abominations. Armed with a crossbow, silver bolts, and skills in stealth and combat she is a one woman genocide run. If only she would stop running in 1v5.
Xin Zhao: The Seneschal of Demacia is a former gladiator and a fearsome warrior. After being saved by the King of Demacia from the fighting pits, he took up his spear in the name of his savior’s country. Don’t try and kill Demacia’s king, or Xin Zhao’s spear will find itself in your stomach.
Yasuo: The Unforgiven is a master bladesman, with a sword allowing him to use near forgotten wind techniques, such as a wall of wind, temporary flight, and throwing tornadoes. Even without his sword, he is still a fearsome warrior. Provided you don’t try and main him.

Weaponizers: These champions rely on a specific artifact, weapon, or tool to win all of their battles, and as recognizable for their signature tool as they are for their feats. To be clear, these are champions who have no notable feats not related to their weapon of choice, and for the most part are not known as skilled warriors. If any of them end up having their lore changed and they become the source of power, I will gladly move them accordingly.
Champions: Ashe, Caitlyn, Ezreal, Graves, Jayce, Lucian, Poppy, Singed, Sona, Vi
Ashe: The Frost Archer is absolutely lethal with her signature True Ice Bow, which once belonged to Avarosa herself. Ashe has a multitude of arrow types such as normal arrows, refractory mirror arrows, and even arrows enchanted with the power of True Ice. While without her bow she does not show much power, there is little dat Ashe cannot accomplish when she is determined.
Caitlyn: The Sheriff of Piltover is like Chris Kyle mixed with Sherlock Holmes, all contained under a massive hat. She is a crack shot with her modified sniper rifle, and is considered to be the best dectective in all Valoran. Only one criminal is ever known to evade her, and she looks forward to when she can see him behind bars.
Ezreal: The Prodigal Explorer is always looking for his next big find or great adventure. Runeterra’s own Indiana Jones, Ezreal uses an mystical amulet in battle, firing off blasts of light and even teleporting with the help of the magical artifact. Despite the amulet holding all the power, Ezreal is constantly able to get himself out of trouble with his wit and his trusty gauntlet.
Graves: The Outlaw is feared even among the criminal underworld for his determination and massive double barreled cannon of a shotgun. New Destiny is modified to be able to fire off buckshot, smoke grenades, and even explosive rounds much farther than it reasonably should. No prison can hold this outlaw for very long now. I can finish these lists, but Graves can’t have a cigar?
Jayce: The Defender of Tomorrow inspires his city with his looks, charisma, and giant dual function hammer. While without it he is little more than an arrogant and flamboyant inventor, Jayce knows how to make his weapon versatile. Functioning as both a ranged energy blaster and a melee sledgehammer, Jayce can use this to crush any problem put in front of him.
Lucian: The Purifier is armed with a pair of runic pistols and a deep seeded need for revenge against one familiar Chain Warden. Lucian can use his pistols to deadly effect, cutting down legions of the undead with ease and a grim demeanor. While his story might be sad, Lucian will show nothing but willpower when cutting down any unded dumb enough to encounter him.
Poppy: The Keeper of the Hammer wields a magical weapon that, in the right hands, allows the wielder to do amazing things. What she doesn’t know is that those hands are hers. An argument can be made as to whether the power is in her or the hammer, but logic dictates that if she was able to perform these incredible feats of strength without the hammer, she wouldn’t deny that she was the chosen hero nearly as emphatically as she does.
Singed: The Mad Chemist is a brilliant chemical weapons expert, able to craft plague like toxins with relative ease. He carried these into battle, along with a massive shield. While he is weak without these poisons, many have died failing to follow Rule Number One of League of Legends: Never chase Singed.
Sona: The Maven of the strings can create music that will alter your very being. With her magical etwahl, she can slice objects in half or empower those around her. Little more than a simple mute without her instrument, Sona will always be ready to enchant and entertain those who are willing to listen.
Vi: The Piltover Enforcer lives by the words, “Punch first, ask questions while punching!” Headstrong and armed with a pair of massive hextech construction gauntlets, Vi can use these deadly weapons to punch through walls and strike fear into hearts of hardened criminals. This is one woman I would not want to arm wrestle, at least while sober.

Riders: These three champions owe most or all of their power to their battle mounts. While two of them could fit into the Warrior category, I figured that clumping the three together would be the best option.
Champions: Kled, Sejuani, Nunu
Kled: The Cantakerous Cavalier is an experienced warrior accompanied by a seemingly indestructible raptor on which he rides into battle. While Skaarl is certainly a powerful force in her own right, Kled is the voice of the pair, always ready to shoot or dismember any being dumb enough to step on his property. With as many titles as Kim Jong-Il, a untrusty lizard mount, and a string of swears, Kled will always be on guard to defend what is his.
Sejuani: The Winter’s Wrath is a terrifying woman who commands her people with the philosophy of stength above all. Riding upon a massive winter boar, and swinging around the huge Flail of the Northern Winds, Sejuani has cut down all who would oppose the Winter’s Claw, and has managed to unite groups like the Ursine under her warlike banner. It is hard to determine the more dangerous being: Bristle or Sejuani.
Nunu: The Yeti Rider goes into battle atop the fearsome beast that is Willump the yeti. Unfortunately for him though, without his friend he is most likely the weakest champion in the League of Legends lore. While other beings of short stature have athletic ability, magic, or intelligence on their side, Nunu does not have much to compete. Willump is the powerhouse here, able to harness the powers of a blizzard to an extent, and eat lesser enemies with ease, making the pair a powerhouse which is one sided in favor of the yeti. I hate to say it, as Nunu was the first champion I scored a Pentakill with, but in my opinion, Nunu is the weakest champion in the League of Legends.

So that is it guys. It has been a blast making these for you guys, and I hope to possibly make more lore related posts as champions are either reworked or released, putting them into my tiers with in depth analysis. If anyone wants me to collaborate with them on any lore content (would love to work with Jeremy Gaming Curios), you guys know where to find me.
Here are links to all of the tiers, and a link at the end to my tier chart on which I organized these lists, and i will warn you, the tiers were a total of 27 pages in google docs. I hope you guys have enjoyed, its been a hell of a ride.
