Dream

If you were a dream
you would be an exquisite crane 
soaring through a sky the color of your eyes
flying over an unfamiliar land
in sweeping arcs in the shapes of your lips.


If you were a dream
I would remain huddled in my sheets
wandering about in a fitful sleep 
patiently awaiting your next descent
and I might never wake up again.
