My first impressions after starting immersing myself in Touhou

Hi !

A while ago, I posted this thread, asking about the playing and reading order as I was interested in the story. At the time and until a few days ago, I had only played around a bit with Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and a couple of times with Perfect Cherry Blossom, and watched "A Summer's Day Dream", so I knew a few characters and a bit of the setting but nothing beyond that.

A few days ago, I was bored enough to finally get around to this again. I got all of the official games, with the awesome Touhou Patcher for the English translation, and there's even a patch allowing me to skip the gameplay sections, which perfectly suits my needs about the story. Not that I won't play the games, but I would like to be able to have all of the story available without having to train for months :P

I think I've played at least one time all of the games in the "Windows First Generation", which is comprised of Touhou 6 to 9.5 if I'm not mistaken (I've been reading the wiki for information, but there's a lot to take in). For now, I'm primarily focusing on Touhou 6. My current objective is to finish all of the games in at least Normal difficulty, since it's what's needed to get all of the story with the Extra stage included. Again, I could be mistaken, but could someone confirm to me that Hard and Lunatic won't contain exclusive parts of story or dialogue ?

I also got most of the printworks and started reading them. I've read part of Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, and finished Eastern and Little Nature Deity and Strange and Bright Nature Deity.

Anime-wise, I watched 7 episodes of Memories of Phantasm, and I think the eighth one hasn't been dubbed yet.

So, my first impressions !

As I explained, I've been mainly focusing on the First Generation stuff. I know almost nothing starting from Touhou 10.

To be honest, I'm having trouble remembering the storylines and characters already. I'm re-reading the wiki and everything, but even then, not a lot of things "stick" with me besides Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Which leads me to another thought... I'm a bit afraid that the cast of characters from the games after Touhou 6 don't interest me enough. I already liked the characters from Touhou 6, but now I do even more (Patchouli and Sakuya from Memories of Phantasm were incredible), and I'm a bit afraid that nobody in later games will match them in my mind. That would suck to try to immerse myself in like 10 or 15 games and to think that the best one was the first one :/

Not sure I have a point with all this, but I guess I wanted to put it out there, maybe some of you guys have had a similar experience and changed their mind afterwards. Please let me know if you can think of any way to improve my experience, because I ask for nothing more than to become a passionate (or rather, completely obsessive :P) fan of Touhou like I did with other things in the past :D
