Upgrading Existing Rig to 1080Ti HTPC - Anything I'm Missing?

Build Upgrade

###Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

Yes

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

The goal is to run games at max on a 4K (HDR) TV, in a case small enough to sit in an entertainment center (it's pretty open-air right now but I'd rather not that be a requirement for the thermals).

I've been out of the PC gaming world for a while now, and so don't know as much about building as I used to, which is why I'm looking for some guidance here.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

4K 60 on max/near max

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I'm hoping to upgrade as few of my existing components as possible, so I'd say I'm aiming to come in at under $1K

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

US

What I have

  • Gigabyte G1.Snpier M5 micro-ATX motherboard
  • Core i7 4770k
  • 16GB Corsair Vengeance
  • A Corsair dual-radiator liquid cooler on the CPU (don't remember which one, but I believe it's discontinued now anyway)
  • A 1000-watt PSU (I'm headed into upgrade #2 on an old SLI monster, so this might be overkill, but it's what I have)
  • A 120gb SSD boot drive (this thing predates Windows 7, so needless to say it's time to upgrade)
  • 2 3.5" 7200RPM HDDs (1.5TB, 1TB...though I'd like to keep both in the new build, I'm ok with making one external if necessary for the size)

What I plan to buy

  • A GTX 1080 Ti (I'm unsure of whether I should grab a Founder's Edition or go for a 3rd party card)
  • Corsair Carbide 240 case - I've seen other cases I like more, but can't buy either one (can't find a way to buy Kimera Industries Cerberus, and while I like the Corsair Bulldog, it comes with a bunch of stuff I don't need). I'm not married to this, so I'm totally open to suggestions. But it seemed like a good mix of features and size for what I'm looking to do.
  • A new SSD of some kind, haven't settled on that yet (budget for SSD will largely be driven by how much other stuff I need to get besides the card and the case)

Provide any additional details you wish below.

What I'm hoping to achieve with this post is some guidance on whether what I'm planning to do will work...am I trying to pack too much into too small a space? Do I have to go for liquid cooling on the GPU to make it work in such a small case? Is there anything I'm forgetting here? Etc.

If you want a mini ITX case, check out the phanteks enthoo evolv ITX. I personally think it looks sexy as hell, and has all the space for liquid cooling. It feels more like a Mid Tower than an ITX Tower,

I've seen a lot of mini ITX cases I like, but I already have a micro-ATX motherboard that I'd like to continue to use...are those compatible with mini ITX? I was under the impression they weren't.

No they would not. What about the fractal design define mini c? Or maybe the thermaltake v21? Sorry I'm not posting links, too lazy :p

No worries. Easy enough to google them. I'll take a look at those, thanks!
